For an act who so clearly lacks an X-Factor of her own, Cheryl Cole‘s career has ironically been hinged on the brand for the last few years.
Having risen to prominence as a solo force on the British incarnation of the show, the former Girls Aloud singer was poised for global stardom after being “promoted” to the US version of the talent-search. And then, faster than one could say lip-sync, the stunner was left with scrambled egg on her face after being axed by Fox just two auditions in.
Now, several months removed from her public shaming, the 28 year old has decided to quell speculation about her supposed return to the brand which made her a British household name.
Her response to her alleged X Factor UK return after the jump…
Taking to her Twitter account, the newly gutsy star wrote:
“X Factor was a great experience and time in my life and career but is now part of my past. Please #letsmoveonnow #newnewspls Zzzzz *yawns*.”
While we greet the news with a slow, yet approving clap (she’s as vapid as vapid comes), it’s interesting to see Ms. Cole humming such an affirmative anti-X Factor tune. For, not only was her entire solo push crafted around the X Factor…it existed solely because of the X Factor.
Indeed, cunning and contrived edits saw her hailed as projected as the nation’s sweetheart (further burying her arrest for a racial attack); while the X Factor stage was the only one she’s perform her new material on. These together ensuring her album’s to be best sellers. This, despite her rarely promoting the projects once the show had wrapped.
In any case, it’ll be uber interesting to see how Cole fares without the Cowell scaffolding this go round. Very interesting.
