In what will be sure to have everyone – including yours truly – wondering exactly where Madonna’s publicists are, another ‘interesting’ comment from the star emerged today. This time, in ‘The Advocate‘.

Quizzed on the GaGa’s relationship with her gay fans, she explained:
It seems genuine.
It seems natural, and I can see why she has a young gay following. I can see that they connect to her kind of not fitting into the conventional norm.
Then, out of nowhere added:
I mean, she’s not Britney Spears. She’s not built like a brick sh*thouse.
She seems to have had a challenging upbringing, and so I can see where she would also have that kind of connection, a symbiotic relationship with gay men.
While we understand what Madonna means this time, we’re not sure how Spears will take to her body being compared to that of a bodybuilder’s.
But on a more serious note- it is necessary for everyone to ask Madge about Gaga everywhere she goes, especially when there far more bigger things at hand- like Superbowl 2012 and MDNA for example.

This comment is a very odd one. I’ve only heard of a “brick house” and that’s usually a good thing (and makes sense if your referring to Brit’s body). It seems a bit offensive to Gaga, because she might be implying that something is awkward about her and that’s why she may not fit in or seem normal. What she meant is that Britney appeals to her gay fans because of her looks and that USED to be the truth; she used her s** appeal and looks to catapult to the top.

The correct question is SHOULD GAGA BE OFFENDED? I think it was more of a diss to Gaga and a compliment to Britney. Janet fans can’t rewrite history. MADONNA IS THE QUEEN OF POP BOTTOM LINE. It’s not about who is the most talented although in my opinion it’s pretty much a toss up between the two. Neither are strong vocalists although Madonna managed to make more progress in that department over the years than Janet and therefore has a slight edge in that department. Madonna has been able to pull of decent choreography over the years and has had training in dance while Janet clearly has the upper hand by a mile in that department. But as far as I’m concerned a slight vocal edge is worth more or at least equal to a mile’s worth of advantage in the dance category since they are first and foremost vocalist/recording artist. Being the best dancer isn’t good enough for me. Besides, you can debate all day as to who is the best entertainer and it won’t change the fact that MADONNA RULED THE 80’S AND EARNED THE TITLE QUEEN OF POP IN THE PROCESS. SHE WILL DIE WITH THAT TITLE JUST AS MICHAEL DIED AS THE KING OF POP AND IS STILL CONSIDERED SUCH.

I think you are reading too much into her comment. In the USA it used to be when a woman was called “built like a brick house” that means that she is well stacked (ie nice tits and nice a$s). While that phrase has slowly went away people that are 40 plus still use it because that is a common term and I have never heard of it as derogatory. A quick google image serach on “brick house women” will show anyone pics of what a well stacked woman looks like.

“built like a brick shithouse” is the correct phrase, its British slang and it is used to refer to a MAN who is large in terms of being muscular (rather than fat) – an example would be “I wouldn’t mess with that guy, he is built like a brick shithouse”. Now, whether Americans are misunderstanding this is another matter but that is what it means. I have never heard the term used in connection with a woman other than in a derogatory sense, for example “she was p** ugly and built like a brick shithouse”, it does NOT mean voluptuous or curvy. So either Madonna misunderstood the meaning of the phrase or she is shading Britney, only she knows which is true.

Either phrase means the same thing, whether applied to males or females (though it is interpreted differently for gender): “well-built”. It was a compliment to female form *long* before it was shortened.
The actual origin is obvious when you think about it: most outhouses were made of wood, so a brick shithouse is unusually well-built.
