Since bursting onto the scene 8 years ago, JoJo has been hailed as having a voice well beyond her years.
However, now 21, the Boston native is keen to embrace her young womanhood on forthcoming album ‘Jumping Trains’. Case, point the set’s new promo single ‘Sexy To Me’.
Produced by Danja, the titillating cut (which had been floating around in demo form for some time), ushers in a much more risqué JoJo.

With lead single ‘Disaster’ experiencing a slow, yet steady, yet still slow ascend, we wholly commend the commissioning of ‘Sexy’ as a buzz amplifier.
The solid midtempo re-connects Jo with the ‘gritty Urban’ she so skillfully excelled with on 2006 effort ‘The High Road’ (see: ‘Anything’, ‘The Way You Do Me’). However, it’s for this exact reason that ‘Sexy’ should serve as nothing more than an album track.
By no means ‘bad’, the song presents quite the conundrum in that it’s solid (and moreover introduces her sexuality the “right” way), however it’s simply at odds with the flavour of Pop and Pop Urban dominating the charts at present. And with chartings being of paramount importance to any artists’ longevity, Jo – to put it simply – needs a hit. Something, given the current climate, we’re not sure this will be allowed to be.
Still, we believe in Ms. Levesque’s talent and are confident that it will be hailed both critically and commercially in due course.
To aid that cause, we’d love to see her dabble in a sound similar to the Urban/Pop she and Timbaland served up with ‘Lose Control’:

This review most certainly isn’t hot, however. This song has absolutely nothing in common with her old music – it’s a completely new urban-ish electropop direction reminiscent of Britney’s Blackout.
I agree that she needs to make music more similar to Losing Control though.
Yeah it sounds like Britney, and also Ciara Fantasy Ride era ( see “I’m On”).. but I liked it!

I wonder why her label is having such a hard time finding her great material. She’s a young white girl who can actually sing. Hook her up with Rhianna and Katy’s people and give her some hits already. This dated ish is not a good look. Some big pop hits mixed with a few soulful ballads similar to the ones on her mixtapes(“Boy Without a Heart”) would be a good album.
Apparently this song is just being released to support her Clearasil PerfectaWash campaign….

Hot! ‘S*** To Me’ was one of my favorite leaks/demos, so I’m definitely glad the final version has been released and it sounds great. It has a banging urban pop sound, kind of reminiscent of ‘Blackout’ and ‘Bionic’ at the same time and I LOVE those albums, so I love this track too 🙂
