Even if you haven’t heard her music, chances are you’ve heard of Iggy Azalea.
Rising to fame last year with the release of ‘PUY’, the Australian born songbird recently inked a deal with TI‘s Grand Hustle and Jimmy Iovine‘s Interscope, months before she releases her debut album ‘New Classic‘.
So, in what will only add further fuel to her growing hype, Atlanta belle Keri Hilson has weighed in on the Rapper, during a Ustream session last night.
Her comments below…
When asked who she had been listening to recently by a fan, she replied:
Iggy Azalea. I’ve been listening to her. I really can’t wait to see what she’s going to do, because I feel she’s going to the top- she’s poised for success.
We couldn’t agree more.
Because, with a look, sound and story as cool as hers, Azalea has no choice but to become a household name, if directed correctly.
This however, is where we start to get concerned.
While T.I may sound good on a publicity tip, he is yet to achieve outstanding results with his own career, let alone gear somebody else’s.
For, unlike Baby, Slim and Wayne, he has no track record of grooming and launching successful acts, acts who now benefit from Cash Money‘s success with Wayne himself, by way of finances, resources and general pulling power.
This we fear, is the reason Grand Hustle may become an unnecessary burden on Iggy, who in our opinion could have secured a much better deal with a more reputable label had she turned TIP’s offer down.
Anyway, back to Keri.
During the UStream, she also updated fans on the progress of her third LP, explaining that she is taking her time with the project, recently recording material for John Legend‘s upcoming album.
As well as this, she announced the birth of ‘Keri’s Closet’, the scheme which will see her auction her fashions in aid of cancer research, and in memory of maternal grandparents- both of whom lost their lives to the illness.
