Nicki Minaj: “‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ Will Be Important For Pop Culture”

Published: Friday 2nd Mar 2012 by TGJ Team

On the heels of the hotly anticipated sophomore LP from Nicki Minaj‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ (April 3rd), the colorful rapper has already proclaimed its prolific greatness as one that will be “…important for hip-hop and pop culture”.

Wow, what flamboyantly large shoes Nicki is challenging ‘Roman’ to fill.

See her full statement after the jump and sound-off below.

In an interview with MTV the multiple-personailtied MC assured her Barbz that she “…knows what the people need right now,” and that her sophomore LP would be a “doozy.”

What a way to spark excitement in a cloud of doubt surrounding the fact that her recent single’s have failed to meet critical expectations. The ‘Starships’ singer/rapper is not only confident in her eccentric brand, but also the credibility of her album–an album that will hopefully illuminate Nicki’s frame of mind during its inception.

We here at ‘TGJ’ cannot wait to hear what the First Lady of Cash Money has cooked up this time around. For as much flack as she receives for diversifying her sound to create a sonic ‘civil union’ between hip-hop and pop, hats must be tipped in her direction for her unique ability to capitalize on mainstream pop culture the way only a handful of female MC’s have been able to do. Second only to Missy Elliot in terms of commercial success and suburban acceptance, Nicki Minaj’s statements have only upped ‘Roman Reloaded”s ante to claim the top spot!

Hopefully this won’t be another, Gaga,”I promise to give you the album of the decade” prophesy which inflates to Pluto then is released like a rubber balloon. Nicki is talented and interesting but I’m not inspired to keep up with her stuff. Like Gaga it’s become too specific to the Barbz and Monsters and alienates everyone else. We’ll see though…we’ll see! I’m glad she knows what the people (all 7 billion of us) need right now!

It seems niki want to take over music world with her barbie s***. This woman has an ego I dislike. God damn niki it’s your second album, be humble and pray that your fans will stay and support you for years to come. you are too much right now. artist crossover without changing their genre of music. all of our rap mc’s crossover without going to pop. what is wrong with this woman, why can’t she do the same. her rap is mediocre, her pop singing so called ass is mediocre. atlease get solid in one and then branch out. you hve not even satisfied your rap fan base,
after all i blame her team, they have no respect for rap culture. from autotuning rap to gimmicks in rap

  3. tyra March 2, 2012

FIRSTLY I LIKE NICKI AND ALL BUT I LAUGHED MY ASS OF AT THIS COMMENT THIS WOMAN’S EGO KNOWS NO BOUNDS WHO IS PUMPING THIS S*** UP HER ASS BUT I HAVE FEELING SHE ONLY SAY THIS FOR PUBLICITY

  4. Those That Cannot Do, Stan March 2, 2012

I believe she can do it. The one thing about Nicki is she seems to be bold but also realistic with her goals. She’s infiltrated culture in a way many haven’t and by that i mean 50 yr old moms know who Nicki is. Black teens know who Nicki is. Male video game players are discussing Nicki on their website. Country kids who don’t look twice at rap bought her album.

I actually like some of the ego, men in rap are expected to shoot their mouth off and rep the ‘houses, b******, millions, jet planes, cars’ but females are supposed to be humble and quiet and just pray folks like them. I think it’s cool for a woman to go “Yes I’m killing it and it’s gonna go even harder next album” I wish her luck, she’s proven her detractors wrong before.

this album important for pop culture??? umm so far the only pop song released is starships and even that is nothing special!! she is letting her ego get to her! her first album does good and now all of a sudden she thinks what ever she is making is the s***! and this is coming from somebody who like nicki! her raps arent even like they used to be! i feel like she is only setting herself up for failure hopefully if she does she learns from it!

  7. Jessica March 2, 2012

I yet to see this fool do a lyrical rap battle with the other female hip-hop artists. She is garbage trash!!! The only mark she will be doing is the unemployment line when her album flops big time!! Lol!! She has no lyrical substance and everyone is calling her hip hop? She’s hip-pop and her music is trash, Barbies?? What is she 4 years old?? Her stans are retarded, being a plastic doll is not cute at all. Stop the b******* nonsense. I’m glad Missy, Eve, Da Brat , and Lil Kim is back, real female mc’s that can rap and this trash of an artist will be a flop and she’s gone. S*** even Reema Major is better than this clown, her flow is better and she has substance in which this clown will never have. Bye Nicki, don’t let the door hit you by summer time. FLOP!!!

  8. reallywow12! March 2, 2012

What we need is some good music and if she can produce that than she’s good with me, but the last two singles havent fell in that lane of “good music”. But only time will tell……

  20. the newbies remain stupid March 2, 2012

All these newbies are so f*king embarrassing!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trying so hard to be legends, trying so hard to be the biggest clowns, trying to release the best albums of the decade and trying to change the culture of the world LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lady CACA and Nicki Minaj and Katy S***** and Rihannna and the rest of the extremely try-hard newbies need to go hide themselves. They are such a farce!!!!!!!!!!

All the other pop artists that came before them didn’t try anything! They effortlessly and NATURALLY became epic legends. They did not even try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new pop artists are cringe-worthy, not talented, embarrassing, corny and REDUCTIVE!!!!!

    LOL

  21. nickiminaj March 2, 2012

I LIKE YOU AND ALL, BUT YOU ARE GOING “TOO FAR AHEAD OF YOURSELF NOW”!!!!!!!

    POP CULTURE?

NIGGETTE PLEASE, THE ONLY “THREE” ARTISTS OUT TODAY THAT HAVE MADE AN IMPACT ON 21ST CENTURY POP CULTURE AND ARE CURRENTLY HAVING AN IMPACT ARE “BEYONCE”, “BRITNEY SPEARS” & “ADELE” (THE LATTERS SALES ARE SPEAKING FOR THEMSELVES) !!!!!!!

HELL, EVEN L.M.F.A.O, LIL WAYNE & DRAKE ARE MAKING AN IMPACT WITH THEIR S*** BUT, OBVIOUSLY, POPULAR MUSIC!!!

RIHANNA, KATY PERRY, LADY GAGA & THE OTHER DELUDED CLOWNS & H*** ARE NOWHERE CLOSE!!!!!!!

I HATE “NEW” ARTISTS WHO HAVE EGO’S LIKE THIS!!! JUST BE MOTHA******* GREATFUL THAT YOU HAVE THE SUCCESS YOU HAVE!!!

  26. aynon March 2, 2012

Who is this woman kidding she’s 29! Look at the other artists her age and where they are in their careers…Britney, Beyonce, Xtina, P!nk… About her 2nd album being an influence on pop culture who DOES she think she is.

  27. Maru March 2, 2012

@haterzstaypressed What’s the point if she keep making mediocre bullsh*t? You can spend your money on this c*** but what good will YOU get out of that? Damn sure great music… Just sayin.

  28. Onyx March 2, 2012

I hope the leaked track “Marilyn Monroe” would be in the album i f*****’ lov da song.

  29. gkljdfl March 2, 2012

Same way Gaga built ‘born this way’ to be the saviour album all mighty of the 21st century that will change pop culture, yet it underwhelmed and adele came along and slayed the f*** out.
Nicki better get her act together. Cause gaga was convinced that 2011 would be her year but Adele came out of nowhere and stole the show. Some stranger might just pop out this year and completely overshadow nicki

  30. JAKE March 2, 2012

    @AYNON

F****** HATERZ…this is guhd, at least we know she keeps high standards for herself which means she will work hard to achieve them…which means her work will be good if she works hard…which means she be rising to the top…which means she’ll be unstoppable at one point in time *side eyez*
Now HATERZ, take many seats and log the f*** off of IDontHaveALife.net

  38. Black Butterfly March 2, 2012

Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there. No change of circumstances can repair a defect of character.

  39. Nicki Minaj and Lady Caca are embarrassing and corny and stupid and… I just shake my head at their mess March 2, 2012

@ #1QueenGaga Is the biggest, most ignorant and delusional monstrous fool in the entire Internet.

Lady CACA REDUCTIVE, like Nicki Minaj, IS A F*CKING USELESS REDUNDANT PUPPET!!!

Lady Caca, the f*cking newbie, still has a lot to prove. She did not invent anything.

Lady REDUCTIVE and Nicki Minaj are both pathetic idiot-looking aliens, BUT NICKY Minaj is a better puppet and clown than Lady CACA will ever be!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! Lady Caca is probably very mad somewhere. Adele punched her in the face, and now Nicki is wearing colorful wigs. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Love Nicki Minaj and everything she has done to change the definition of a rap/pop mogul she has shown that you don’t have to be grimmy and hardcore to have a successful album as well as loyal fans nationwide. she has done things many can’t pull off so instead of hating on her s*** give her her props. cause some of ya’ll b****** couldn’t last a day in her heels.
