In keeping it 100, we’re a little confused.
Because, we’re not sure why Minaj has opted for a more Hip Hop route when she’s spent the last year establishing herself as a Pop act.
That’s not to say she can’t merge both, but it’s worth wondering how necessary it is to have someone like Cam’ron on album, when he’s been ‘nul in void’ since before her mix tape days.
On the flip side, if the cuts fall into the category of Hip-Pop and have the same ‘sing along’ vibe ‘Moment 4 Life‘ and ‘Here I Am‘ had, we can’t wait to hear what’s been cooking up.
If not, we’d expect her to go all the way in with the Rap features and only release tracks destined for #1.

I have to say i’m confused also, i’ve always been a HUGE Nicki fan but over the last year or so i’ve been confused with her as an artist and her musical direction. I’m all for artists trying new things but she had kinda lost me when I felt like she went pop, as I LOVED her mixtapes and that’s the Nicki I fell in love with. It seems with this album her aim is to bring back old Nicki but the public are being presented with a pop act? Even down to the artwork, if I was someone who never listened to her, I would never think she would have such an extensive hip-hop line-up on her album.
Though I will say, the tracklisting has reignited my interest for the project by 360! I will be purchasing to see what she has to offer and hopefully it’s good!

Your part of the problem, you want her to be this bubble gum pop princess that makes number 1 singles and ish, instead of having real quality material. You penalize Rihanna for all the qualities in a pop artist you admire….Its not like Nicki’s pop material has real quality (which i could get with if it did) she basically is following the path of Artist like Rihanna because it is clear she doesn’t have a clear direction of how to fuse pop and Rap….And did you really promote sing-a-long rap tunes like Moment 4 life and Here I am which didn’t make a huge impact or major quality. Nicki needs to stop with these asinine features because she is becoming a feature artist just like you hark on Rihanna about. She needs to make a rap song where she can prove herself and not need some male to accompany her, She claims to wanna be the female HOV (which is so ironic since she is in YMCMB) but has not proven she can hold her own at least not since her mixtapes…

While if the sound like descent rap/hiphop songs I have the problem taking a peek, maybe even buy the album. Look at Sam all upset because you thought she was going to release a pop album. Poor thing, but I have a feeling the pop crowed she pulled in ain’t have that and will only download the songs they like, they are singles fans after all.
I didn’t buy the last album, and I won’t be purchasing this, but goodluck to her. I think she’s got both feet in both ponds, and it’s working: for now.
When i saw Beanie Segal Camron and Bobby V i gagged i mean i was expecting Katy Perry, Britney, Fergie, Kesha maybe for a female collaboration hell even Missy but i do feel Nicki knows what she is doing all the singles will be pop like Starships or Pop Hop like Superbass she may release a few rap songs that is uptempo and can be in the club

i was losing all hope for this album. but the features look good, this cd will be more hip hop than pink friday was i think. but there are still the bubblegum songs, oh well, its an impressive tracklist 🙂 glad theres no pop features other than chris brown
also nicki revealed she is shooting the video for “pound the alarm” on sunday and that it is more rapping and less singing. cant wait! this tracklist has definitely got me interested again.

I think the list is good and I’m glad she is having Lil Wayne and Rick Ross on her album. While some might say she should have stuck with that hip-pop mess an easy cross check on amazon shows the wide range of consumers did not actually like that on average.

How can the person who wrote this piece be confused? it’s obvious really. She is capturing the attention of the masses with a pop friendly hit, “Starships,” capitalizing on the momentum of her first Album, by keeping the “superbass-ness” of her previous LP alive. Meanwhile she will fill her album with hip hop tracks, no doubt partly fueled by an attempt to silence her naysayers who deem he as “not hip hop” (Bang my click Bang, hear Roman Reloaded). Her fan-base, new and old enjoy the more classic hip hop aspect of her as well and will come out to support her, the same way Wayne gets his fans to do so, and Kanye, and Jay-z. It is much easier for a female to cross and perhaps blend the lines of “hard,” “edgy” and “sweet. At this rate she might be the first female rap global Pop star. Her whole branding and marketing is to the point and smart.
I can’t with some of these fools lol. Why does an artist have to be tied down to making one genre of music? How many of you only listen to one type of music? Not many. So why does an artist only get to make one style of music?

And what’s more is that according to Nielsen soundscan, even though hardcore shipped 2 million thus reaching multi platinum status, it’s sales as of 2007 stood at 1,400,000.
