Whitney Houston Set To Break Own ‘Albums’ Record Next Week

In a career that spanned three decades, pop icon Whitney Houston had a career full of ‘firsts’.  From being the first artist to sell 1 million copies of a single album or record in a week to being the first female to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200, Houston’s storied career has had more achievements alone than many of her contemporaries combined.  And, in an awe-inspiring Billboard report, it looks like she has no plans on stopping.

For, as fans know, this week saw the late pop star become the first woman in history to land 3 albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 simultaneously.  Now, reports have surfaced she is set to best herself in such achievement:

Billboard reports:

“…Houston’s “Whitney: The Greatest Hits” could end up at No. 2 for a third straight week, while joined in the top 10 by the Houston-led “The Bodyguard” soundtrack, “Whitney Houston” and “I Look To You.”  The new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, March 7.”

****

As Whitney would then become the first female in history to simultaneously have 4 albums in the Billboard 200 top 10, industry insiders are expecting to see more sales of the hitmaker’s catalogue in common weeks.  Next week’s showing, of course, is contingent on the event that no sudden spike in sales of other albums occur due to promotions or other unforeseen events.

Elsewhere on the chart, Adele is set to notch her 23rd week at #1 with ’21’ as it is expected to move another 200k.  Her Grammy win also helped move sales of her first album ’19’ and it too is set to make a reappearance in next week’s top 10.

Looks like it’s the Whitney & Adele show!

    I miss Whitney so much.

I listen to her music every night since she passed. It helps me go to sleep.

    Still can’t believe It.

Glad to see her still winning.

I’m so over Adele. Lol. Like seriously I’m getting the feeling we gonna still be hearing about ’21’ in 2015 still on billboard top 3. She winning tho lol

I’m mostly excited that “I Look To You” is selling now… even though it was dubbed a successful comeback more or less, I believe it was completely slept on and underrated. With her voice not what it used to be, Nippy came back STILL slaying and showing the world “I’m Still THE VOICE”…….It’s the album we’ll be left with as a last impression and it is definitely one of my favorite albums. “Million Dollar Bill”(even though it was a single, didnt perform well), “Worth It”, “Salute”, “Didnt Know My Own Strentgh”,”Call You Tonight” are just to name a few that are all knockouts and NEED to be heard/recognized by the rest of the world, the same way MJ’s “Unbreakable” “Cry” & “Heaven Can Wait” from his Invincible album were all completely slept on as potential hit singles, had it been promoted right.

    @ Mr. Bradshaw

I can’t believe she’s gone either. It actually took me 2 weeks to listen to Whitney again. Some songs I could not sit through. It’s also very rare that I cry, so I end up holding stuff in. I didn’t want Whit’s music to make me cry so I avoided listening to it. Then I finally sat and watched so many of her videos one day and I just felt so grateful for her. Whitney was an angel, it’s like she’s one of the few artists whose talent was just unreal. She was truly blessed with a gift from God. Lately I’ve started collecting magazines & newspapers with her on the covers. I got her music on Itunes already, but I plan to get a few physical copies of her cd’s again (that I use to own before). Whitney’s gone, but she’s not suffering here anymore. I’m at peace with that. All that’s important is that she will always mean so much to me for the rest of my life.

Love it, go Whitney! Legacy will always live on!

  11. Unbreakable March 3, 2012

    She’s unbreakable even after death.

I wonder if she can break this record if My Love Is Your Love enters the top 10???? That would be amazing.

You said it all, the one and only Whitney Houston! I had a few I couldn´t listen to her too after her death. Now I do everyday, like I did before she passed, I know who my favs are.
I would love it if she gets the #1 after many weeks at #2. I mean, still Adele???

I don’t understand who is buying Adele besides her own team. I feel like everybody and their Grandma has that CD by now

Whitney Houston has so many classics. Sad that I am just listening to the Bodyguard Era and before for the first time because I was only like 3 when it came out. But it’s great.
