Hot Shots: Mariah Carey In Recording Studio With Jermaine Dupri

Published: Wednesday 18th Apr 2012 by TGJ Team

They’re baaaaack!

The trio that created ‘We Belong Together’, Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri, and Bryan-Michael Cox were all present in the studio last night recording tracks for Carey’s upcoming album due later this year.

The vocal maven was clearly feeling “divalicious” as she hammed it up for the camera in true Mariah Carey-fashion, looking slim & trim. Diva.

See another shot from the inspired evening of music making after the jump and sound-off below.

“Break time at the studio while working w/ Jermash & B. Cox!” MC tweeted.

The anticipation for this era is almost palpable, felt among Lambs and casual fans alike. As a 20+ year veteran, Carey is in the perfect position in her career right now to reclaim the top spot–her second home. Will she be able to take 2012 like she took 2005? Only time will tell…

Are you excited to hear new Mariah Carey music?

  5. War&Peace April 18, 2012

Loving the Louis Vuitton wall covering. Lol I think no matter what they come up with it will be good…. However, that doesn’t mean it will chart. Jermaine is a little dated as of late. I’d love to see MC work with Stargate again. Even Max Martin or Dr. Luke would breathe new life into her music. I’m ready to see a new side of MC’s!!

  9. sjs April 18, 2012

@ dev how can you define what good music is or is not, We have to realize that what music is popular today may not be as profitable in the years to come. People can try to call JD, MC, Beyonce, and older recording artist came out when the industry was at its best BEFORE INTERNET PIRACY exploded onto the scene. Artist’s nowadays are not touching none of these artists album sales, world tours, brands, please.

  10. sjs April 18, 2012

I hope they have success because that is what MC and JD are used too, I think its okay if something sounds classic, and authentic. PS, when music is great when you get a good feeling from hearing a classic hit you won’t say its out dated you will say I remember this from back in the day or throwback, I swear some artists especially those who have paved the way for newer artists get so much ridicule. I need sunlight so much shade in the room

@SJS Thank you! I feel the same way! Still listen to my 95-99 rnb jams like they are brand new

  13. JER April 18, 2012

  14. The ONE April 18, 2012

@ SjS I agree we live in a time where being cool or current out weighs being creative and orrginal. Artist like Mariah have paved the way and taken music to new heights with their God given talents. I have a good feeling that Mariah, JD, and Mr.C** will make beautiful and meaningful music. We are patiently waiting on you MC!!!!!

  15. NewF*YorkBabe. April 18, 2012

    F*ck YES!!!!
    We be waiting.
@ASHGINO@GMAIL.COM what the hell u be talkin about. Those pavarazzi pic of her and nick headed to Alicia’s place?!? Uhhhhh F.R.I.E.N.D.S they never spoke of music. Good Hopin.

  16. Adrian April 18, 2012

Yes @ASHGINO@GMAIL.COM You need to wipe the smudge off your reading glasses because Mariah and Alicia were just hanging out, NOT recording!

@SJS- Thank you! Said it all.

Mariah is a legend and has nothing to prove to these weak 2012 artists, however for her fan’s sake she will SLAY this year! Her voice is sounding amazing live so I know she will give us some ridiculous vocals in the studio (see MCIIU.) As far as her collabs with JD/BMC they crafted the classics We Belong Together and Oh Santa, which both had an amazingly current yet timeless vibe to it….they ALL know that the lambs will kick their ass if they give us a We Belong Together Pt.15 so they wouldn’t even try it! lol. I’m excited to hear this new material and will be buying 4 copies of the CD as soon as it hits pre-order. She better give us a summer 2012 single! In the meantime she needs to hit up :

    The Dream
    Rodney Jerkins
    Max Martin
    Dianne Warren
    Walter Afanaseif (wishful thinking!)

  17. MRB April 19, 2012

longs as she dont work with bryan micheal c** her album should be good!

  18. Siberian Prince April 19, 2012

@MFB….Right! And she def dont need to work with The Dream cuz he f***** her album Memoirs all the way up….ever song sounded the same and a mess with low sales. I see she learned her lesson and went back to Jermaine. Good devision Mimi, stick with who brought u hit songs!

  19. GG April 19, 2012

I hope she stays away from The Dream aka The Nightmare. I didn’t like her work she did with him. She needs a few CLUB/DANCE tracks. We know you can sing Mimi, now make me shak my ass !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  20. ilia April 21, 2012
