Lana Del Rey took her awkward sensibilities to ‘The Voice (UK)’ last night to perform her new single ‘Blue Jeans’.
As an entertainer, the former ‘Miss Lizzy Grant’ is about as effective as Britney Spears on sleep aids–still, she should be commended for her insistence to sing live no matter how much it goes against one’s better judgement.
Check out how this self-proclaimed “studio singer” fared after the jump and sound-off below.
While Rey showed clear signs of strain while singing around her exaggerated trout pout, she also showed signs of improvement based on her earlier showings (i.e. ‘SNL’).
As the “new kid in school”, Lana needs to accept that not everyone will be familiar or even like her work–she needs to remember to relax when performing for non-fans. As an artist, Lana is brilliant. As a live performer, she’s like a fish out of water gasping for air.
Or, perhaps “awkward discomfort” is her stage gimmick and we’re the one who haven’t caught on yet?
