Resurrection: Tupac Performs “Live” At Coachella

Published: Monday 16th Apr 2012 by Sam

Ever since Tupac Shakur was killed in 1996, the rumours surrounding the legitiacy of his death have become almost as legendary as his status within the Hip-Hop community.

Whatever the case, it’s safe to say we won’t ever see rapper again the flesh.

However, in what can only be hailed as epic embrace of the digital age, the Hip-Hop icon was revived last night during Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg‘s headlining Coachella set last night. Appearing in hologram form, ‘Pac performed ‘Hail Mary’ and ‘2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted’ – alongside Snoop.

Watch the soon-to-be-classic showing below…

Fire!

It’d be awesome to see more acts flirt with such concepts. Granted it’s not overdone (and that it’s with the “right” artists), the potential for great moments like this are relatively endless.

It was definitely well thought and well executed. R.I.P. 2Pac. His legacy lives on

(Not be shady, but it’s interesting how Dre and Snoop needed to revive 2Pac just to make their set memorable. Just saying…)

Lol. I heard some people say this scared them. It’s just a hologram dumbasses. Holograms have been used before at certain shows. He’s not alive and you can see right through it to see it’s not real. Just an illusion. But anyways, this is pretty cool. I’d like to see MJ and aaliyah be done! One for the money two for the show!

  18. PrettigurlrockD April 16, 2012

I think Elvis or Nat King Cole has had a hologram before. Can’t rly remember tho.

This just underscores how much hip hop has fell off… damn!

West side reppin to the FULLEST!! Pac LIVES on forever. That s*** was amazing! The whole 50 plus minutes set was on fire. Eminem was there along with 50, Wiz, and others. It was an amazing set.

  21. Onyx April 16, 2012

They should make this with Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, imagine those two together OMG!.

  22. Sheltop April 16, 2012

Janet Jackson did this at the Essence Music Fest back in like 2010 in her opening set.. this is hot s*** tho. I would of thought she would of used it for scream with her and mike on tour but didn’t happen lol.

  23. Tbozfan10 April 16, 2012

This s*** was awesome but I’m not gonna a little chilling & a lil creepy at the same time. I don’t know how to explain it. He was/ is the greatest rapper of all-time in every aspect. The King lives on.

  24. VA STAND UP!! April 16, 2012

This is soo dope and very creative! Kudos to Snoop & Dr Dre for coming up with this idea even though I’m pretty sure it was mostly Dr Dre’s idea because Snoop is always high.

  25. Jordan April 17, 2012
