The pair will star in the BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012 (ordained by the committee as the headlining event) a month before the Games, said organizers of the Olympics cultural festival, releasing the program at a news conference today.
Comedians Stephen Fry and Tim Minchin will be among other entertainers cropping up in venues across Britain.
“There will be absolutely something for everyone: from Beethoven to Jay-Z, from Shakespeare to Mike Leigh,” Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said at the news conference in the Tower of London.
Maybe we’ll get to see a live performance of “Talk That Talk” from Rihanna and Jay-Z TOGETHER- YASSSSS!

i finally read these comments and i don’t know how that is exciting news for some people. Live at Rio was a huge crowd with negative reviews and backlash, so was for a lot of other showings. For those whining about it should be a UK act, all the big UK acts will be performing at the opening and closing ceremonies, no foreigners allowed as it will showcase British talent (including Adele). I don’t consider this festival to be the Olympics “headliner”, there are a ton of musical events on before, during and after the Olympics here in the UK this summer. I like Rihanna personally but her lazy-ass live performances are not fit to headline anything. We see Gaga and Beyonce doing vocal warmup exercises before they go onstage, we see Rihanna pissing about with her friends. That says it all for me. She is a good recording artist but a poor live one, and that is why her tours are not mega-popular, unfortunately, as she only needs some lessons in vocal technique so she can perform onstage like she does in the studio.
