Since Rita Ora‘s debut, there’s been an effort by some to bill Rihanna as Jay Z‘s problem child, one wrong move away from being replaced by her meek and agreeable doppelganger .
Written off as tabloid trash by Ora in recent interviews, her non existent feud with the ‘Umbrella’ singer has made her quite the hero within sects of Beyonce‘s fan base, who for one reason or another aren’t too keen on Fenty and her cause.
Now, Rita has spoken openly on the ongoing matter for the first time since speaking to That Grape Juice,last month.

On replacing Rihanna, she allegedly told The Guardian:
I don’t think there will be a next Rihanna. But I think Jay Z definitely sees me as someone who could be as big as Rihanna. She’s a superstar now but they first knew her as a small-island girl – and they want to repeat that success.
While Ora’s comments are anything but controversial, we’re sure some will read them as being so.
Yes, while it makes perfect sense for Jay Z to replicate Rihanna’s success with a new act, it’s their similar look and timing of Ora’s launch that has many calling ‘bull- you know the rest’.
Either way, Rita is a talented act in her own right and does deserve the chance to carve her own lane, without being compared to her label mates.
However- and we’re aware that this is really petty- it’s worth noting Rihanna’s decision to ‘borrow’ Ora’s look around the radio release of ‘Party’, and Jay’s decision to launch in the same week she came under fire for teaming up with Chris Brown.

I’m a Bey stan & even I know Rihanna cannot be easily replaced. In terms of success & stardom Beyonce will always be at the very top, RiRi comes next. I can’t see Rita even as a backup singer for Bey. People try to put Bey & RiRi against each other but in reality we don’t know their relationship. Beyonce has always been an inspiration to Rihanna, she’s said it herself. Rihanna doesn’t need a mentor anymore to hold her hand, she’s established herself as artist despite her lack of vocal ability & dancing skills. Can any of you people even read?!! Read the quote. She actually said, “I dont think I am going to be the ‘next Rihanna.’ I think jay z would like me to become as big as Rihanna. When she started out she was an island-girl” and now she’s a superstar. Well duh! You don’t sign an artist and hope for them not to be as big as Rihanna or someone else with superstar status like Beyonce.
A lot of you have no lives I’m serious constantly trying to create drama and beef between artists, especially female artists. Why do Beyonce fans feel threatened by Rihanna being successful, and why do Rihanna fans feel intimidated by Beyonce’s success. Y’all act like there should only be one successful black female recording artist or something.
In the end, this only builds more anticipation for Rita Ora’s debut LP. Nice.
Rita is not just a clone of Rihanna. The thing she has up on Rihanna is that SHE CAN SING LIVE. That’s her best asset and she should use it to set herself apart.
People are really funny, they always want to get caught up in charts/sales, etc. The truth is, even if Rihanna’s music career ends in 6 years’ time, she will still have movies to fall back on. The good thing is that she never pretended to be a “great vocalist”, so I don’t know why people are always out to criticise her live singing, when in reality, someone like GaGa(who isn’t a great vocalist by any stretch of the imagination) aren’t vocally superior than Rihanna. Even if GaGa can sing better than Rihanna, it isn’t really considerable. As for the Rita Ora girl, she’s good, but vocally I think she is a bit overrated; she isn’t much better than Rihanna vocally. I wish them all the best, it’s only pathetic people that like to say someone is a “flop”. As for Beyonce, everybody has their time. And even if her time is up, she will be remembered for her vocal ability and performances.

I find it funny that Rihanna is already working on another new album to sweep TALK THAT TALK’s poor performance under the rug. She has to put a new album every year to grab hold of loose change sales, because she knows that if she EVER takes a break her career is done. No one is going to wait for her. Lol, I’m not disputing that she doesn’t have talent or the “it / x factor”, but you can’t tell me that her green eyes don’t play any part in that. I remember when she first came out. Pon de Replay was hot, but everyone was saying “does she wear contacts? are those her real eyes?” – then when the video for “If It’s Luvin'” came out, the song was ‘aight’, but everyone watched that video to look at her eyes (and watch her roll around in the sand like Beyonce did in the Baby Boy video).
I’m from the islands, and where I grew up I could show you literally dozens of girls that look like (and even better) than Rihanna without weave or makeup – but the ones that get the most play are the ones with the light eyes. If Rihanna had brown eyes, no one would have checked for her in the first place. That was part of the reason why she had worldwide appeal; “look, she’s Black – but not too black, she has green eyes!” Because her voice was not that good, her face game was not that cute, her moves were a lil too stiff (especially for a Bajan chick), and her accent was standard. No hate, I love babymamma Rihanna but that’s the truth.

Hmmm I’m not feeling her so far. I think she is the label’s fail attempt to try and match Rihanna’s success. I dont see anything special about her. Yes ppl like to clown Rihanna about her weak singing and all but Rihanna has built an empire solely off her hits. All of Rita’s songs are boring and don’t smell like hits. I don’t see her lasting. I think she’s only hype right now cuz ppl are sick of Rihanna for six years but other than that she doesn’t stand out at all.
I think this girl needs to find her own. Im trying hard to like her because she is with Roc Nation but she is acting like a damn Rihanna clone. They need to find her an identity ASAP! Rhianna may have her issues, which we all do but Jay is a business man. He knows that RiRi is one of, if not, his highest saling artist right now. Not only does she has a music career which has had many #1 hits, she has endorsement deals, and movies. Regardless of what some say about Rhianna, she’s a top selling artist and on top of her game.

No, as much as I can’t stand RiRi now, I don’t think this girl has what it takes to replace RiRi. For one reason, she is definitely a Rihanna clone and doesn’t have her own identity. The girl tries awfully hard to sing in the RiRi style and does not come across as someone that will have longevity in the music business. Jay z needs to come harder with someone who can really sing and has the own unique presence. RiRi had it when she first came out but now she appears old and used up. Her innocence is tarnished and for that she no longer appeals to the masses. I don’t think this girl either has what it takes to mesmerize the masses like RiRi did when she first came out. I think Jay z will have to come harder with a singer with unique style and appeal.
