        What?

      • ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) May 17, 2012

I don’t think they’ll do a Beyonce post this time around tbh 😎 Besides, she hasn’t responded yet. Mary J, Rihanna, Boys 2 Men and Timbaland have, though, so they could make a post about how celebrities in general reacted to Donna’s death…

  16. xoxo May 17, 2012

why is everyone a legend as soon as they die?

    • Joya May 17, 2012

What a buffoon you are. This isn’t a case of someone becoming
a legend as soon as they die…Donna was already a legend. She’s been an icon for virtually ALL of her career, and her legendary status has been long cemented. If you didn’t know that, then you are truly ignorant and should hush.

Ignorant ass people on the Internet. Always one of the first to run off at the keyboard to say something stupid. Just shut up.

    • Anne May 17, 2012

Donna Summer was a living legend in the eyes of all who knew music. RIP Donna

  17. MadBrax May 17, 2012

  19. xoxo May 17, 2012

why is everyone a legend as soon as they die? barely anyone on this site could name 5 of her songs this morning.

    • DTG May 17, 2012

      Love to Love You
      Heaven Knows
      Bad Girls
      On the Radio
      MacArthur Park
      Unconditional Love
She Works Hard For The Money
      Dinner With Gershwin
This Time I Know It’s For Real
      Love’s About to Change

There, now that’s 10…and I knew all of them offhand.
      You can shut up now.

    • Bey Fan May 17, 2012

well the people who dont know Donna might wanna do a littler research.

And I honestly can’t name 5 of Elvis Presley songs (and judging by your comment, neither can you) but does that make him less of a legend….

  20. SBC19 May 17, 2012

Even though disco music was almost as bad as electro-pop, at least it had soul, was very black/R&B-influenced and many of the singers who recorded it could actually sing. Unlike the Katy Perry’s and Rihanna’s of today doing that stale ass white thumpa-thumpa video game music.

    RIP Donna.

  21. Mely B May 17, 2012

I’m so sorry to hear this. Donna’s spirit is free and she is resting in peace I’m sure. To the ignorant commenting…just stop, you’re being disrespectful.

  22. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) May 17, 2012

To those who said artists who die suddenly become legends, you’re wrong. Being a legend is not about people being able to name your whole discography. Being a legend is not about being on TV/ radio/ blogs every single day. Being a legend is about having a reputation so strong that people have to know your name. I was born in the 90’s, long after Donna’s peak and I know HER. That’s what a legend is about.

    R.I.P.

    • kevin May 17, 2012

And to add to that, a legend influences other genres of music. Donna was HUGE in the club and DJ’ing circut and huge overseas in Europe. Her name is spoken as one of the greatests voices and female vocalists of the last 50 years. That is what you call legendary.

    • PrettigurlrockD May 17, 2012

AMEN. Legends are names that are remembered and the fact remains all of her hits are considers timeless classics!

    • Real Music Please May 17, 2012

PLEASE LET THE LAMES KNOW!! Donna Summer was the Disco Diva Queen! I was in shock hearing the news about her death, as I was about to work!!!!! I pray and ask the Lord to comfort her family, and all of her fans around the world!! I’ve been known about Donna Summer all my life, but never knew but a few songs from her, and I was born in the 80’s!!! Miss Summer is resting in the arms of the Lord! I’m happy that she left this world with music that will be played 50 years from now! She was a class act, a beautiful black woman! With grace!!! To the dumb ass, just like ASAP said, that sums up a legend pretty well!!! I sit and here say, with all the singers we have now!! Do they really step and think!! WFT AM I DOING WITH MY MUSIC”? It’s seems like Rhianna, Beyonce, all the Generic era artist don’t think about their Legacies anymore, just their fame, and making the quick buck!!! I pray to God this will wake people about about this s***** music we have know!! Something has to give with this f***** up state that music is currently in. R.I.P Miss Donna Summer. 1948-2012

  37. johnvidal(rip whitney-truegreat) May 17, 2012

So sad! It feels like we are loosing too many people lately
For those who are complete ignorants: I have not lived the peak of this woman but I know for a fact she was great, she has a big bunch of #1 hits and she has a VOICE, yeah a voice so much better than you all know who, even if her music was mainly dance or disco, she had a VOICE, often underated
She is totally the Queen of Disco, and that´s more than what your favs will ever be. The thing about this woman and some others that have died recently is that absolutely everybody respected them as artists cos nobody in this f****** world can´t deny they had inmense talent. You know your favs have not that talent and will not be remembered this beautiful way. Are you mad cos of that or what? You disrespectful and delusional ignorants? And they sure know who I am talking about. Don´t want to give names cos this post is to celebrate Donna existed and gave us music, but they know, they are the only two fanbases who constantly talk s*** about everybody on every post that has nothing to do with their favs, when those favs of them aren´t half of what these people we are losing lately are

    • richnblack11(beyonce keep em mad) May 17, 2012

YOU ARE CLEARLY TALKING ABOUT RIHANNA

    • mobwife May 17, 2012

YES! Donna was from an era in which you had to sing. There was none of this nonsense where you can become a so-called superstar singer over-night by any means (e.g. contest winners, sleeping with the right person, controversy, cheap gimmicks etc.)! Today “the machine” hand selects who the public is to consider GREAT these days (see Justin Bieber etc). In the past you had to produce a high quality of product over time before you were considered an “American Idol”!

  38. Ray May 17, 2012

We have all her albums. She has such gems like Does He Love You” (with Liza Minnelli), Whenever There Is Love, The Queen Is Back and She Works Hard For The Money.

    • JohnVidal(rip whitney-truegreat) May 17, 2012

“She works hard for the money” is my favorite along with “Last Dance”
Ans the Barbra Streisand duet… and so many, you know some people are truly ignorant

  39. RoyalKev May 17, 2012

This is extremely sad. I am starting to get emotional about these losses, because so many iconic musicians that have paved a way and opened doors for so many current artists are being taken away from us. It’s good to know about your music history and who’ve laid down a foundation for these breakthrough artists and learn to appreciate their acheievements and respect their artistry. These black pioneers have truly made their mark in music from Etta James – to James Brown – to Donna Summer – to Michael Jackson & Whitney Houston (and also Don Cornelius) … I know this will hurt so many people and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. R.I.P Donna!

    R.I.P. Donna.
    May your legacy live on.

Family & friends will remain in my prayers.

  41. DIGGER BEY May 17, 2012

Lord please go and comfort Donna’s family, friends and fans that are hurting rite now. Im going to miss Donna! She was truly a memerizing Diva and Trailblazer! She might was known as The Queen of Disco but that woman could sing! When people talk about the Great Singing Divas Ever, she should always n mention! She is the epitome of a Glamorous Soul Diva! When I look at Mariah, Kelly Rowland, Beyonce and a few more. I see traits they took from Donna. Her music will live on! # R.I.P DONNA SUMMER @xoxo I bet u stan for those basic chicks, hence u dont know anything about Donna or true talent! During the Disco Era and early 80s, Donna was that chick on Top! She was That Bish! Not only did she break records looking like no other (S*** Glamorous Diva) but she could sing circles around most of these heffas n today music, their a*** would go into a dizzy spell! Check the facts before u talk about True Talent! @ Lacfronce…make sure u dig a whole for ur raggedy self, while ur digging one for someone else! @ Kat Deluna Crazyass Mental B**** SMH

RIP DIVA…….”Love To Love You Baby”! <– One of the sexiest songs ever made!

Ms. Summers had some wonderful songs throughout the years. I hope her memory and legacy are honored in an appropriate manner. I don't want to hear about drug use in the 70s and no bullsh** that like! Black American's need to do better in honoring their legends no matter what their shortcomings…. WE ALL HAVE THEM and fall down from time to time!

  43. BrealK May 17, 2012

R.I.P. to one of the original Divas. A true legend.

  44. B. Hill May 17, 2012

Rihanna’s reaction to Donna Summer’s passing: “who?”
    Ugh.

  45. R.I.P Queen Of The Disco,Songstress of a generation May 17, 2012

Donna Summers was amazing. I’m an late 80’s baby, but I know all of her material. Yes its true people die everyday. However it makes all the difference when you touch a whole generation. My uncle and aunties were bawling like babies. She was the soundtrack of the 70’s. I’m so jealous!! They had the best music ever!! The 80’s was really the downfall in quality in music. Yeah from that era we got the greats like Whitney,Luther,Madonna, and more.Music from the 1960’s and 70’s was just a hard thing to follow up. your faces today might surpass them in sales(Which are really fake numbers)and fraudulent #1’s but in talent…..well there’s a reason why our elders call our music crap

  46. NT May 17, 2012

I was just watching her AE biography on youtube yesterday or the day before ; she was such a kind hearted woman R.I.P to the Disco Diva.
