Exclusive: Keri Hilson Lends Her Celebrity To HIV Awareness

After launching the chart topping ‘No Boys Allowed‘ in 2010,and exciting fans with news of a new album in 2011, Keri Hilson has put music aside this year to focus on a cause much greater than herself.

Indeed, we’re talking about HIV awareness, and this Sunday will see the star embark on the ‘AIDS Walk New York 2012‘ in aid of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, for which she is an ambassador.

Details below…

As their 2012 representative, Hilson will partake in the 10km ‘walkathon’ around Central Park, in a bid to boost both awareness and finances for AIDS research.

Speaking to That Grape Juice, she revealed:

I’m super excited. We’re all gonna have a good time and lend our time and for some of us- our hard earned finances to a cause bigger than us.

The AIDS walk is actually the largest aids event in the world each year, so I’m excited to be a small part of it. I want to do my part to bring awareness to the epidemic and  lend my celebrity to the many events and preventative measures surrounding it.

Going onto add:

You know, it really means I’m using the platform that I’ve been blessed with to help with AIDS research and I’m proud of it.I’m proud to be an ambassador for one of the largest AIDS groups in the world.

If you’d like to walk with Keri on Sunday, tonight is the last night to apply so make sure you sign up here.
