So, after watching one time rivals Britney & Beyonce rise to ‘budding icon’ status and having his business model ‘borrowed’ by Usher to create Justin Bieber, we ask:

Technically, everyone is just one hit away from a major comeback. Since Justin can write and produce and given that he’s established and has had plenty of success in the past, I doubt it would be difficult to produce a smash.
The only problem is that after 4-5 years of acting and making SNL appearances without releasing any music, he might have crossed over to the celebrity side rather than “performer/ recording artist”. The statement he made a few months ago about not taking himself seriously as a musician doesn’t make things any better either.
Still, he’s talented and his music has been good on both of his albums, so I wouldn’t write him off.

Justin is one of those artists that is an exception to the music industry rule right now about how you can no longer take so and so years off in the game. If he were to drop an album tomorrow it would probably go no 1 because that’s how big he i s and how talented. Plus it’s not like his been completely missing this whole time, his face has been out there enough for people to not not be interested.

I liked the shade. LOL. I can’t say I hate britney cuz she was the ultimate popstar back then but as far as talent she’s limited in her vocal abilities so that’s why I don’t rly think she’s a legend. But she’s pretty iconic in her own type of way with the dance moves. And I agree since britney started getting big in 1999 music went downhill more and more. I gotta say though there was some talented comebacks in 2009 and 2010 with jazmine sullivan and all but 2011 was just one of the worst years for music. It looksl ike it’s slowly starting to pick itself back up this year tho. Brandy is finally back.

Almost 10 yrs later and Janet fans are still bitter. Look, I blame the whole thing on her. Janet has spent the last 20+ yrs acting trampy in her music, in her videos and on stage. The top coming off seemed like par for the course with her…………………and I’d be willing to bet that the whole idea of his pulling off her top was probably HERS. She should have made sure her skivvies were on tighter (that’s IF she wasn’t planning on exposing her b******, which I’m not totally convinced she wasn’t.)
Why did Janet’s career die while his continued to thrive? Take off your stan hats and examine the situation. Justin was in his early 20s then, was hot off of a successful solo debut and his career was still peaking commercially. Janet was nearly 40 and had already long peaked commercially. Her record sales have been dropping since the middle 90s. Janet then went on to release 3 wack ass albums after that that the public didn’t like. The SB only exasperated and sped up what was on course going to happen with her anyway.
Janet put out a garbage album on the heels of the fallout when the controversy was still raging. Justin on the other hand laid low and didn’t release another album for 2 years, which allowed people to move on from the topic. Plus his Future S** album was actually good. Janet’s Damita Jo was a turd (as were the two that came after.) Justin handled the situation better by shutting the f*** up, getting out of dodge and coming back strong when people were ready to see him again. Janet stayed in the kitchen, cooked up s***** food and there you go!
I have no idea what Janet’s whiny fans wanted from Justin or how they think he should have handled the situation. After the fallout I remember him speaking, saying that neither he nor Janet intended to offend anyone and that he was sorry if anyone was. What more could he have done? It’s almost like her fans wanted him to lash out and pick fights with the public and media in her defense. Which would have been stupid and not helped either of them.

I will never understand why he would quit making music when he was the biggest recording artist in the game at that time. He would have been on his way beyond iconic status. I’m not even a fan but he was unbelievably big. Then the music stopped after 2 solo albums. He should have kept the music coming while he was still hott. I believe when he’s older he will look back and wish he had been releasing music at this time so that his legacy Would have been bigger than it already is. Can he make a comeback? Probably so.
