It was perhaps the worst kept “secret” in recent memory; however today has finally seen it confirmed that Ciara and Jennifer Lopez have indeed signed with Epic Records.

The newly-restructured Sony Music label relaunched their official website this AM, boldly showcasing both ladies as flagship acts.
For each lady, the move to the LA Reid helmed imprint is ironic to say the least.
‘Ride’ singer Ciara released her last album (the ill-fated ‘Basic Instinct’) on Jive Records – the now-dissolved label which also sat under the Sony Music umbrella.
J.Lo, on the other hand, spent much of her career at Epic until she was poached by Reid to join his then-label Island Def Jam back in 2010. There, she’d go on to release global megasmash ‘On The Floor’ and its accompanying album ‘Love’ – which conversely received nothing of the sort from record-buyers.

For any other act, this game of hop, skip, and jump could easily prove a career killer. However, for these two, it seems nesting under the skilled-wing of LA Reid is just what the Career Dr ordered.

I’m excited for Ciara. At least she has SOME talent, and can hold a tune. Unlike Rihanna. I am really sick of seeing random posts about CERROR and JNO’s dead music careers! JNO needs to sit her old ass down. She’s past her prime and her last 3 albums have been flops. Didn’t EPIC drop her ass? Now, since LA Reid is there, she’s back? And CERROR… whew, don’t get me started. Her last three albums have been flops as well. Platinum wasn’t good enough for The Evolution and the last two didn’t even go SILVER! All that is going to happen with these two is that they are going to put out singles that flop, or have one single that does very well, and then the album will bomb. It’s a never ending cycle.

I’m kind of surprised Ciaria was even able to get signed. Her last 2 albums weren’t just FLOPS. They were STINKERS. They were the kind of sales that any smart businessman would read and realize there is absolutely no coming back from.
Good luck to both of them. I enjoy both Ciara and J.Lo’s music so I hope they can reclaim the spotlight like they once were able to do so easily.

Ciara can definitely be a success again. The problems are
• Her voice doesnt sound the way it did when we loved her. It’s all super high pitched. What happened to that “Oh” 1,2 Step sounding Ciara.
•She doesnt look like the Ciara we fell in love with. She got supper skinny too. What happened to that golden blonde hair, thick, goodies dancing Ciara ?
If she gets back those simple elements (old singing voice,old hair color, and weigh ) and maybe just maybe hook back up with Jazze Pha, its no denying Ciara will be a hit again.
