Cementing her status as a local singles artist, Cheryl Cole saw her hopes of nabbing her 3rd #1 album on the Official UK Album Chart thwarted by American heart-throb Justin Bieber.
Details after the jump…
The Girls Aloud star, whose all-out campaign for her ‘A Million Lights’ album saw the LP deemed a shoo-in for the top spot, had to settle for #2 after the 18 year old’s ‘Believe’ rocketed to the top spot.
While the actual figures sold are set to be revealed shortly, projections place Cole in the 40,000 – 50,000 region – a far cry from the 105,000 opening numbers of 2010’s ‘Messy Little Raindrops’ and the 125,000 of her solo debut ‘3 Words’ back in 2009.
‘2’ seems to be the magic number for the 28 year old this week, as her current single ‘Call My Name’ slides into the spot after topping the Official Singles Chart (and breaking records) last week. Needless to say, she’ll be taking the good with the (relatively) bad.
