Hot Shots: Solange Stuns For ‘French Glamor’

Published: Sunday 17th Jun 2012 by Sam

Cop a gander of Solange!

The youngest of the Knowles clan looks all flavours of fierce in the latest issue of French Glamor.

We must say, we’re loving the self-branding Solo has been doing over the last few years. Eclectic, chic, fashionista. Here’s hoping  these can be leveraged to support her new musical material whenever it surfaces. For, next to her sister, the 25 year old is one of the industry’s most gifted and consistent performers. Yes, you read right.

Peep another shot after the jump…

And because it’s still so amazing…

I don’t see “model” when I look at Solange.

Yes, because she is more than a model…she is an entity.

  5. S****** Blonde June 17, 2012

I think she is way more beautiful than Beyonce, i mean she looks more natural but the hair is a mess.

    • Kingphoenix June 17, 2012

Yes, because your racism is always so refreshing.

      • S****** Blonde June 17, 2012

        Kingphoenix.
Did i say something wrong, i say she’s more beautiful than Beyonce because she looks more natural and the hair even a black person can see she needs to do something about it. where is the wrong part.

      • Kingphoenix June 17, 2012

That part you said about Beyonce is irrelevant. Her hair is perfectly fine. It was the look she intended to go for, maybe its not up to the European standards of beauty you idolize, but for me and other black people who truely love themselves, Solange hair is beautiful. Go look it up on other urban websites regarding her hair and this spread. What you said was racist and ignorance, just because her hair ain’t the texture of yours, and those who chemically straight their hair does not mean its unkempt or not beautiful. That is hair natural hair that grows out of her body and if you don’t like it you can go suck a d***.

      • S****** Blonde June 17, 2012

        Kingphoenix .
Man your sick, i didn’t mean to say anything about her race or hair texture, by the way i’m not European, i am an American.

      • Kingphoenix June 17, 2012

I’m sick? So what did you mean by hair hair looking a “mess” huh? And your white american of European ancestry. I am american too. African-American. Your beauty standards come from that of a European origin. American does not equate white. White does equate a European ancestry origin. You didn’t learn that in school sweetie?

      • S****** Blonde June 17, 2012

        Kingphoenix.
I know about the whole ancestry origin but european people have other beauty standards, i’m not racist like you always want to make me look.

      • Kingphoenix June 17, 2012

European and White American standards of beauty are not too far apart, if they are apart at all. Stop playing stupid. You are racist, its a fact. You have proven this time after time. Instead of crying about not being perceived as racist take actions to destroy your racism.

    • Virtuoso Intellect June 17, 2012

Whats wrong with her hair Paul? It doesnt fall back to her shoulders the way u like it?

      • virtuoso intellect June 17, 2012

so a black woman can only pass for beautiful in your eyes if she looks like Aaliyah? yup son keep diggin that hole

      • Kingphoenix June 17, 2012

        @S****** Blonde

Yes because all black woman should have long chemically straightened hair, light-colored eyes, and lighter-toned skin that was inherited by them from their white ancestors as if it is some kind of gift for us as black people to be able to possess characteristics of white supremacy within our gene pools. And yet you chastise Beyonce for “bleaching” her skin and dying her hair blonde. It would seem as though you would love Beyonce, but you can’t because she is a threat to white superiority…being that she is the most talented female performer out today, who is in actuality very proud of her blackness which she has shown through her music, her selection of her husband, her undying support for her blac President, and her decision to be a responsible role model for other black woman and black ppl in general. With you whites, we are damned if we do or damned if we don’t.

i don’t know what to say anymore, i’m not racist, that’s it. a lots of my fav. artists are blacks, MJ, Prince, Janet…ect.. please stop with this s*** about black and white, we are in 2012 and the whole Beyonce thing is stupid, she’s nothing but a clown in my eyes.

    • BEYONCE’S WEAVE June 17, 2012

People like you are the reason black women have got low self esteem. Her hair is beautiful and I feel more black women should rock their natural hair instead of conceding to the weaves, lace-fronts and chemical texturizers so as to fall in the white standard of beauty. Shame on you.

      • S****** Blonde June 17, 2012

        BEYONCE’S WEAVE.
So Beyonce have a low self esteem, Blonde hair, Wigs….ect.

      • Dezi June 18, 2012

I beg to differ, white women have low self esteem more than any-other race of women – hence the tanning countless plastic surgeries, trying to obtain the very features that are more prevalent among black women but at the same time, deemed unattractive on black women HOW IRONIC! I once read a study about how black women are a lot more comfortable with their bodies as opposed to white women. People need to WAKE UP … They push that white standard of beauty mess onto the masses so that people can feel as bad as they truly feel about themselves. I never will understand how a race of people can feel as though they can make fun of someone elses features yet turn around and spend thousands on the very features that they are making fun of. Very hypocritical to say the least.

    • virtuoso intellect June 17, 2012

u say you’re not a racist, but the understated racism is too obvious in your statements time and time again. u are just this NY gay boy and u think u have it figured how black women should style their hair. here’s a newsflash Beyonce and any other AA woman for that matter can do whatever the hell they want with their hair if it makes them feel beautiful, if it boosts their esteem. every woman deserves to feel that way. if u dont have a problem with Jlo, shakira wearing blonde wigs, why cant Beyonce? why was britney wearing wigs & extensions after shaving off her hair? it’s ok for white women to do these things huh. anyways you are very ignorant and u never fail to showcase that the good thing is regardless of ur views, these women will continue to them.

another, why are u desperately tryna make this about Beyonce? u say she’s just a clown to u but people dont take time out to write disparaging comments upon comments on clowns, they have their laugh and keep it moving. u coulda complimented Solange and kept it moving but no the only reason u cared to comment is bcuz its an opportunity for u to bring up Beyonce. you’ve really taken ur “non-hate” towards this woman to another level … then again u already wished death on her in the past. gosh i wish i knew how she stirred up such strong emotions from a lil gay NYC boy. More power to KingB haha

      • S****** Blonde June 17, 2012

        virtuoso intellect
First Kingphoenix bring Beyonce into this, then BEYONCE’S WEAVE says i’m the reason black people have self esteem and i’m the one to blame, i think you should be proud of who you are no matter if a white person don’t like your physical aspect, no excuses for that, now the thing is you bring the Gay thing into this, what’s wrong with being Gay, i don’t mind let some guys suck mu d***, after all a blowjob is a blowjob.

      • Kingphoenix June 17, 2012

        @SuicideBlonde

No b**** you brought Beyonce name into this trying to invalidate her beauty by stating Solange is better, not because you think she is prettier but because you think she is a more “natural” beauty? What do you mean by this? Because she wears her hair natural, which will contradict your previous statements that her hair is mess and that you think Aaliyah is the standard of black beauty. B****, don’t try me because i will destroy you. And your gayness was brought into this because whitemen think they have the “right” to make judgements on black women, specificall black Diva’s because they like their music and sassy attitudes, as if that makes them an honorary black woman. Your not only racist, but your dumb as hell too.

      • S****** Blonde June 17, 2012

        Kingphoenix.
Yes i think Solange is more beautiful than Beyonce is that a problem and more she seems to be cool and NATURAL than her sister, it’s not a crime.

    • virtuoso intellect June 17, 2012

noone cares that u think X Y Z is more beautiful than Beyonce. this isnt about that and thats not the racist part of ur comment. can u forget about Beyonce for 1 second geez

      • S****** Blonde June 17, 2012

        virtuoso
I only mention Beyonce because this post is about her sister, that’s it.

    • Demi said that June 17, 2012

Umm s******, honestly, why are you dancing around what is being said in their replies? Oh I’m sorry, did you think Aaliyah’s hair naturally grows bone straight out of her scalp? The funny thing is Aaliyah’s natural hair texture is probably similar to solange’s (give or take as far as how tightly coiled it may be) Shame on you for implying that solange’s NATURAL hair is unacceptable. I guess it’s only acceptable to wear your hair the way it naturally grows if it grows straight or if the person has “good hair”, as some ignorant people coin it. No one really cares who you think is more beautiful out of beyonce and solange, that’s completely irrelevant. You imply that you like the fact that Solange seems more “natural” than her sister and then on the same breath turn around and insult her natural afro-textured hair. Honestly, I don’t even know why I’m replying to you because it’s pretty much useless if you can’t comprehend that your original comment was ignorant and potentially hurtful to black women with natural hair similar to solange. Anyways, solange looks FIERCE and I love the hair. She is serving African chic-ness and basic b****** can’t deal…

      • Demi said that June 17, 2012

Oh Please Sam is so up beyonces w**** hole that he is now even praising this glorified DJ, one of MANY reasons I don’t frequent this site, IF YOU SEEK UNBIASED AFRICAN AMERICAN entertainment news visit THE-YBF dot com to save yourself from this PUTRID site RUN BY STANS.

    • Kingphoenix June 17, 2012

That site is not unbiased, the stan for Bey almost as much as @sam. In fact they were the first site i saw to have these photos of Solange. Girl bai.

  16. BEYONCE’S WEAVE June 17, 2012

I like the fact that she got rid of her weave and is rocking her natural hair. That is totally different from the older sister who is hanging on to them weaves for her dear life. Solange is a better role model for women than Beyonce is.

    • YouDoRealize… June 17, 2012

I’m so confused. Are u a beyonce stan?

  17. Miko June 17, 2012

In at @S****** Blonde defense, i don’t think he said anything racist. Just expressed an opinion about Solange’s hair. And if Aaliyah is his beauty standard for black woman, that’s fine. Better Aaliyah than a Lil Kim.

I personally think she looks amazing natural, but i do think that it makes her look older than what she really is. I thought she looked her best when she was bald. She has perfect bone structure for that.

i find it interesting that you guys are commenting to S****** Blonde about being a racist, when everything you guys are saying is overtly racist to white people. “you whites”, etc. White people are not forcing black woman to buy European hair or bleach their skin. That’s something THAT INDIVIDUAL person needs to deal with. You can only place the blame on someone else for so long.

BTW before i get called a racist. I am a biracial male. Black and German.

    • Kingphoenix June 17, 2012

And thats your problem because you think that there is a thing such as black people being able to be racist to white people…or “reverse racism” which is not a thing or possibliity. Only a white person fueled by their privelege or a foolish person of color sympathizing with white people because you are fully entrenched in all the ideas of white supremacy. You need to be educated. Take a class on Africana or African studies.

You think black woman make this choice? As if they chose to be taken from Africa and placed in a society where they are constantly told that there value is nothing compared to whiteness. Where you rarely see people of color in the media, and when you do more likely than not they fit the ideals of white ideals of beauty? Who do you think is manufacturing this hair weave and skin bleach? Whites, because they have the power to create it, and have the power to portray the white ideal in the media so that blacks will feel bad about themselves and never be able to rise against racism fully. I know that because you are are biracial you feel you have the best of both worlds and practice a sense of color blindness? But your wrong, you never feel complete in the white world because you feel your not white enough. And in the black world you feel like you don’t belong because its to dark, it’s to negative, its too wrong. Thats why you came on this site and jumped to defense of the first white person you could without acknowledging that we were in fact right about @SuicideBlonde’s racism. You know it, he knows it, and we certainly know it. You have experience racism before and will continue to. You can either fight it, or continue to defend whiteness being its perpetual s**** gaining nothing in the end.

    • Kingphoenix June 17, 2012

Racism- the structural oppression of non-whites through government legislature, cultural “norms.” Representation in the media, etc.

So you see blacks cannot be racist because they were never allowed to have that power.

    • virtuoso intellect June 17, 2012

he does all the time, makes a racist remark then name-drops one black person as some sort of antidote. it’s the equivalence of public figures running to Al Sharpton when thy cross that proverbial line.

anyways personally i dont care too much what he has to say but this is an urban site, he wont come here degrading our women and feel like his voice is golden. far too long we’ve let the white-run media tell us what beauty is supposed to look like, we dont have to take it from some silly white dude too.

Any sensible 21st century man knows that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and COLOUR.

black women shouldnt have to look like Aaliyah to be considered beautiful, tha f**k?

      • S****** Blonde June 17, 2012

Umm s******, honestly, why are you dancing around what is being said in their replies? Oh I’m sorry, did you think Aaliyah’s hair naturally grows bone straight out of her scalp? The funny thing is Aaliyah’s natural hair texture is probably similar to solange’s (give or take as far as how tightly coiled it may be) Shame on you for implying that solange’s NATURAL hair is unacceptable. 21. YouDoRealize… June 17, 2012

I believe she’s BEAUTIFUL! I AM A PROUD BLACK AMERICAN! Her hair at times were a mess. Because he said he didn’t like her hair doesn’t mean s***. I hate Briteny Spears hair. Does that make me racist.

  22. DEMI SAID THAT June 17, 2012

Well the issue pretty much lies when you start mud slinging her aesthetical traits that she shares in common with many other people of african descent (in this case being her afro-textured hair). How about you and him both think calmly to yourselves, “Hm… what exactly IS a ‘mess’ about her afro textured hair?” and I realize you weren’t the person that called her hair a mess as it pertained to this photo.. But this could also be applied to britney.. What exactly is a mess about britney’s hair and the way god made her? Oh right she’s not a natural blonde, chemically processes her hair and as a result it looks thinner and less healthy. So perhaps you not liking her hair is warranted.. Because it doesn’t look the healthiest. But what looks unhealthy about solange’s hair? Healthy hair is beautiful hair point blank period at the end of the day. You can have your own opinion about it and that’s fine but I refuse to subscribe to the idea that solange’s natural hair is ugly or that afro-textured hair is inferior. And that’s another thing, just because someone’s hair isn’t personally your preference, that doesn’t make it a ‘mess’. I see society still has leaps and bounds to go, smh

    • DEMI SAID THAT June 17, 2012

and in reference to your “does it make me racist” question. I know others may have labeled him racist based on his comments. I wouldn’t quite go that far too call him racist based on his comment but it was an ignorant comment nonetheless and and made him look ignorant. It wouldn’t be so bad if he truly didn’t know any better but once enlightened, he clearly felt his comment was still justified so odds are he probably has some maturing to do.

      • Kingphoenix June 18, 2012

Oh, no we labeled him racist because he does this all the f****** time, him and a couple other white people come on this site and bash black artist, particularly Beyonce, but then say…oh i like Rihanna so that don’t make me racist (Basically because Rihanna music and image now caters to whites). This is an on going thing, we aren’t being “bullies” or “mean”. Don’t back down from your original intuition! By sing that comment you could feel the racism in bedded in his sentiment, people are so afraid to call out racism…Naw, f*** that! Thats why institutionalized racism is becoming worse and worse! Trust your instincts bew, don’t cower to make a white person feel better about his/her self, they have been privileged all their lives at our expense!

    • Kingphoenix June 18, 2012

I agree with everything you said in this comment, it sucks to see how you back-downed in your last one though.

  23. DEMI SAID THAT June 17, 2012

@s****** Just read your last comment. I want to apologize for being so vehement in my argument. If you honestly and truly didn’t have ill intentions when making your comment, there’s no hard feelings. We as human beings just need to be careful with what we say I guess.. But on that same token I also shouldn’t get caught up in what people say. People will always have things to say that may hurt or offend others so we need to build thicker skins unfortunately<3 Again, no hard feelings.

    • Kingphoenix June 18, 2012

Huh, huh, huh! He is fooling you with his white ass sympathy card that he and many white people use all the time. You can be a sheep and get the wool pulled over your eyes, but trust that white man is a wolf and he will get your ass if you don’t fight him off. Even black are so quick to think that other black people are being unnecessarily aggressive and sensitive at the same time. You obviously didn’t read all the comments because @Virtuoso alluded to his consistent acts of racism on this site. But no you saw an “apologetic, sympathetic” white person and jump to his diffence, while also invalidating everything me and @Virtuoso were trying to say. And i really thought you had your s*** together, but i guess another on bites the dust…good luck with that though, you know apologizing to white people for their racism.

      • DEMI SAID THAT June 18, 2012

I didn’t apologize for what I said because I will always stand up for what I believe in. I apologized for getting so worked up over words on TGJ because it’s never worth it to me to get in a f***** up mood over someone making an ignorant comment. And I haven’t been keeping tabs on all of you and virtuoso’s posts on this page, only the ones cascading from s******’s first post, this is also the first time I’m seeing s****** post because I don’t usually read much of the comments. I just don’t feel good going hard on someone who doesn’t have a valid argument so like I said, if he didn’t have any ill intentions, I apologize for going hard, but not for the message I stood for. And thinking back on it, you’re right I shouldn’t have apologized lol.. but I’m just way too kind. didn’t say I was perfect~ I didn’t bite anyone’s bullet, I’m just trying not to leave this article on a negative note lol. I still agree with you & virtuoso’s argument(s) oh well.

      • Kingphoenix June 18, 2012

Its cute that you want to be positive and all but, just remember that they will not always be so nice too you. I try to be positve and nice, but sometime certain situatuon warrants certain attitudes. I appreciate your post, keep fighting the fight…and do let your positivity be taken advantage of by people how don’t deserve it. 🙂
