Confirmed: Nicole Scherzinger Replaces Kelly Rowland On ‘X Factor UK’

Published: Friday 15th Jun 2012 by David

Congratulations are in order for Nicole Scherzinger.

For, after a rocky year which saw her debut album fail to score a US launch and face a dismissal from X Factor USA, Scherzinger has officially landed a judging a role on X Factor UK.

Details below…

ITV News reports:

The singer will join Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos on the talent show in a reported £750,000 deal.

The former Pussycat Dolls star – who is dating Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton – replaced Cheryl Cole on the US version of the show after the Girls Aloud singer was dropped from the panel last year.

For some strange reason, the folk at the X Factor think people are interested in seeing Nicole… every week.

If her label don’t believe she’s commercially potent enough to release an LP in her domestic market, and she failed to attract audiences in that very market, why in Kelly Rowland‘s name do they believe she’ll fare any better elsewhere on essentially the same show?

As someone accurately put it, Scherzinger is the greatest trick the devil ever played. For, people only pay attention to her because they believe everyone else is.

That said, business is business and one must get in where they fit in; the US wasn’t the place for this former Pussycat. Whether the UK is will be interesting to see.

All of this back and forth with X-Factor is not a good look for any of those involved! *Smh!!!!!*

  2. gio88 June 15, 2012

no one actually cares abaout nicole scherzinger , i stil doesn’t udnerstand why her label after all these flops continue to invest SO MUCH on her!!!

    • I Stan 4 Me June 15, 2012

I’m convinced she’s performing “favors” for her label boss(es). Anybody else would’ve been dropped by now.

  3. ryry24 June 15, 2012

I would have preferred Anastacia as a judge tbh :/

  4. YOOSONDALOOSE June 15, 2012

    No no no no no!
    THEY NEED A DIVA!!!!
    …not a wannabe

  5. REAL June 15, 2012

Wow what a horrible thing to say… Nicole was a great judge on the US Show she ahs an amazing voice and is an amazing performer she’s perfect as a judge for the UK, don’t hate on her becuase Kelly decided she no longer wanted to do the show… that post actually made me feel uncomfertable, it’s funny you should mention the Devil vos that was just evil!

  6. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) June 15, 2012

    LOL…

I remember that just a few months ago, TGJ was still stanning for Nicole. Now that she replaced Kelly, you’re pressed. And it’s not even shade or sly digs, you’re dragging her for filth!

Anyway, Nicole can do whatever she wants, but it’s obvious that people are not feeling her. Sad but true. There’s no doubt she’s talented, but if being on a TV show and performing at ALL the major talk shows didn’t do the trick for her last year, it won’t now either. I still can’t believe the smash waiting to happen that was ‘Whatever You Like’ didn’t even chart!! I don’t know what’s wrong, but people are simply not paying attention and I don’t think any judging panel can change that…

  7. Vince June 15, 2012

To be quite honest, I got nothing against her. she seems like a “nice person”. But I just don’t see her as a judge. Kelly had nothing spectacular but she could dance just as good and had stronger capacities to sing live.

I would have prefered someone more established or someone like leona lewis (who has been through the whole thing and has one of the best voices of the industry).

Nicole’s album is ok (a few good songs especially AmenJena IMO) but when I watched that performance I kept on waiting for that EXTRA thing.. Didn’t come up, I would have liked someone like A Burke to do that performance. Would have been more entertaining. At least she must be happy getting 3/4 of a million in da bank account ^^

  8. JoArmy&CarrieUnderwoodArmy June 15, 2012

To be honest I liked killer love…it was an average album. She needs to get back in PCD because ppl liked her more when she was there.

  9. skintightjeans June 15, 2012

I like her! Hope she does well!

  10. Matthew Charlery-Smith June 15, 2012

Biased much? It’s true you all had only positives to say about Nicole last year. There aren’t questions about her singing. As for her not being “commercially potent” you need to aim that at Kelly whose album failed drastically on the charts and was so quickly forgotten…Nicole’s album went Gold, remember? Which is probably 80,000 more than Kelly who I’m a real fan of.

  11. ass June 15, 2012

I think this was Simon’s plan. He just switched nichole from one show to the other under the guise of a firing. This was to lessen the blow to Paula’s ego..

  12. Ar June 15, 2012

It makes more sense for Nicole to be on the X-Factor UK because she has more of a fan base in Europe. All of her singles from Killer Love except “Wet” landed in the top 5. “RIght There” reached #3, Poison reached #3, and Don’t Hold Your Breath reached #1.

I just hope that she can be a good judge and leave her niceness at home. You can’t be a judge if you can’t dish out advice for contestants. #justsaying

  13. salah June 15, 2012

Hahaha giving the uk the leftover eh simon ? i would have gone for rita ora ( she have a nice personality but not enough experience) or ciara she would be great!! or shakira omg imagine that!

but if simon really cared now about the uk version he wouldnt give them left overs -.-

  14. Aryo June 15, 2012

Lol. Asap is right. As soon as nic replaced kelly, they start hatin on her smh
If they liked kelly on the show then here i am wouldnt flop that hard.

  15. Aryo June 15, 2012

Oh and f*** u if u hate nicole cuz i stan for her and she shitz on ur fave(specially if its rihanna) lololol

    • BEYONCE’S WEAVE June 15, 2012

Rihanna’s worst performing single has outsold Nicole Flopzinger’s best no matter how much you hate *sips tea*.

  16. antertain June 15, 2012

Well the year 1D was formed she had influence on that and did well on her last stint filling in so i think she should be good.

  17. kim June 15, 2012

I thought simone dropped her from US x factor. She is now in Uk x factor? is she broke or is she just simone’s s****. No sentiments.

  18. O_O June 15, 2012

You know Rita didn’t get it because Tulisa saw her as direct competition for fans of her age and younger right? Well Simon may have given Tulisa that one but now she’ll be sitting next to a woman who is used to getting her own way with both Simon and Louis, wonder if Tulisa will like playing background to Nicole when Simon, Gary & Louis parr her for Nicole. Lets see how this plays out.

Would love to see the nation tune out, see Tulisa for the attention hungry hater of superior women and beg for Kelly to come back.

  19. BS June 15, 2012

welp i used to just watch x factor UK cause of kelly now i aint got no reason to watch!

  20. Kingphoenix June 15, 2012

Didn’t Cyndi Lauper make a song about this? “Flop after Flop”

  21. John June 15, 2012

She was s*** on the X factor US and she will be s*** on the X factor UK. She is too over the top and annoying. Jesus christ, although Cheryl cole has little talent, she was still a good judge and good to watch and was entertaining. I predict rating won’t be good at all for the show this year, drama.

    ANYTHING for a check!

How embarassing! She got the boot from her native X Factor, US! And then takes the exact same job, except in the UK.

Thats embarassing if I ever heard of something like that.

Oh well least she realizes her U.S. music career as a solo artist will NEVER get started! #FAIL

  26. gio88 June 15, 2012

the funny thing is that after years of her label trying in every way to put her in the center of attention (see pussycat dolls , and all money spent in her solo career) now she is just a replacement…

  27. gio88 June 15, 2012

wans’t she not wanting to be a Jusge but a singer?

  28. john June 15, 2012

Why dont she go back to the pussycat dolls. And do two more alumbs with them then after she get through tour and promoting with. Try the solo thing again. The only reason why i think her career didnt pop is because she was more focused on creating a solo career. That she never gave the pussycat dolls a chance to leave their mark on the music industry before goi.g solo. The onlh reason why grewn stefani, justin timberlake has a successful is because they wanted until their group to leave mark on the industry before going solo. Then when the group made their mark on the industry they agree to do one more alumb with the group. So they can use the buzz to build a name on their on then they go solo.

    @Sam/TGJ Staff —

Word to the wise: rush to Kelly Rowland’s house, remove all the knives, razors, scissors, glass bottles; make dull all the sharp edges and hard corners; child-proof the windows, stairs, and remove any/all prescriptions for her medicine cabinets.

re: “If her label don’t believe she’s commercially potent enough to release an LP in her domestic market, and she failed to attract audiences in that very market, why in Kelly Rowland‘s name do they believe she’ll fare any better elsewhere on essentially the same show?”

But Sam, the same logic/rational can be used to against/with Kelly Rowland:

1.) Why is Kelly Rowland now being so heavily marketed to U.S. audiences when “Here I am” only moved less-than 150-K U.S. retail units?! For her entire career, the now almost-40-something-year-old Kelly Rowland, has been nothing short of a disaster in the U.S., what makes Ms. Rowland/her handlers think it’ll now be any different?
2.) Sam, she toured with one of summer 2011’s hottest acts: Chris Brown, while on his “F.A.M.E” (F*** All My Enemies) tour. It had ZERO effect on U.S. “Here I am” sales.

Sam, given your rational, Kelly Rowland should NEVER again release an album in Europe!!

..But we know better, now don’t we, Samuel? That “Kelly Rowland perpetual motion failure machine” will no doubt reboot, reconstitute and again assault our ideas of talent, stage-worthiness, and “natural” beauty.

So what does this rant have to do with the desperate flop (Nicole Scherzinger) who has accepted this cheap offer? Sounds like a red herring to me. Looks like you’re trying to bash Kelly Rowland to make Nicole Scherzinger look good which is STUPID in my opinion because they are both flops (though Nicole is a bigger flop than Kelly).

It’s like trying to convince your kid who got a 35% that he did good because his friend got a 20%, they both failed so what difference does it make?

      • X,Y,”and Z” June 15, 2012

        @Beyonce’s weave re: June 15th, 7:04 pm —

“Sounds like a red herring to me/Looks like you’re trying to bash Kelly Rowland.. ..which is STUPID in my opinion..”

Well, you’ve found yourself: you sound/look “stupid”..!!

        ..More stupidity:

“though Nicole is a bigger flop than Kelly”

        Oh, REALLY?!

Which band was bigger “PCD”, or “DC”?? That said, of both ladies, which had the bigger platform from which to launch her career?

Kelly Rowland, was, WITHOUT QUESTION, T-H-E biggest star of 2011 X-Factor U.K. Essentially, she had, said “X-Factor U.K.” stage, ALL to herself! She had a weekly 12-Million captive consumer-discretionary-spending audience, for months on-end. Yet still, she only managed to move less-than 150-K “Here I am” units to said “12-Million-weekly-for-months-on-end” X-Factor U.K. viewers.

I’m curious, how many record labels has Nicole Scherzinger been dropped from??? How many times had Beyonce, one of THE biggest stars in the world, offer Kelly Rowland her lacefront to ride, in a futile attempt to then help her ‘DC sister’?

        ..Exactly..!!

Hey, ‘Beyonce’s weave’, I know ‘King B’s’ secret diet. You wanna know? You do?! K, here, but don’t tell anyone else, K? Let’s just keep it between us: http://www.moonbump.com/

        X,Y,”and Z” — OUT..!!

      • BEYONCE’S WEAVE June 15, 2012

        @ X,Y,”and Z”

Frankly I don’t care about any of them because they are both flops. Kelly Rowland at least has a top 5 album (Here I am debuted at #3 Billboard Top 200 albums) and has a Platinum single and R&B #1 (Motivation) with 2 UK top 10 singles (Commander #9 & Down for whatever #6) so Here I am wasn’t a complete flop.

As for Nicole Flopzinger who also had access to “a weekly 12-Million captive consumer-discretionary-spending audience” in the BIGGEST MUSIC MARKET IN THE WORLD, and sat next to, and took part in a show which involved 2 of the most influential people in music (Simon Cowell, responsible for One Direction, Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle, iL Divo / LA Reid, responsible for Rihanna, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, P!nk, Karmin, Usher: Confessions, Mariah: EM=C2) had an album that didn’t even chart on the Billboard top 200.

I think I can confindently say Nicole is the biggest flop if you’re comparing her to Kelly Rowland. Having said that, this still brings me to my original two points which are:

1.) Comparing one Flop with another Flop is useless because they are both Flops.

2.) What does Kelly Rowland’s lack of success have to do with Nicole Flopzinger’s desperate move to accept a job on X-Factor for cheap?? Why does Kelly Rowland matter in the Nicole Scherzinger case??

  30. BEYONCE’S WEAVE June 15, 2012

What else is she going to do? She is a flop desperate for a break, maybe this is it though I doubt it.

  31. Saetana June 16, 2012

Better her than Kelly, she is a better live singer and dancer, Kelly was pretty dire last series – although I do give her props for singing live rather than miming like Cheryl Cole. I’d rather her than Cheryl, Tulisia and Kelly – although I’d really like to see Dannii back who was the only decent judge on the panel, not much chance of that now Simon has kissed and told, slimebag that he is. Kelly was not right for the UK, too much gushing and weeping and wailing, its not our bag at all – the jury is out on Nicole, will have to wait and see ;o)
