Congratulations are in order for Rihanna creators Jay Brown and Jay Z.
Responsible for turning the Caribbean teen into a cultural phenom, the genius pair’s efforts often go unnoticed lost in the blur that is the the singer’s hype.
Today, they will wake up to news not even they could have anticipated.
Find out why below…
As of this week, the singer has sold over 20 million units (albums/singles) in the United Kingdom alone, this according to the Official Charts Company.
Thus far, she has sold a whopping six million albums and 14 million singles within the space of seven years.
These sales have made her the only female artist in British chart history to have featured on five #1 singles in five consecutive years, starting with ‘Umbrella’ in 2007 and the monster hit ‘We Found Love’ in 2011.
On ‘The Jay’s’ success, the Official Charts Managing Director beamed:
Rihanna’s record, in selling more than 20 million singles and albums in the space of seven years, is truly staggering. There certainly must have been something in the water when she – and Adele three months later – was born in Spring 1988!
Well done Rihanna!
Here’s to this feat, the ones that will follow and the US #1 album we’re sure you’ll get…eventually.
