Brandy Shares Disappointment With New Album Release Date; Talks BET Awards & More

Brandy bares all!

Speaking with our friends over at The Urban Informer, the ‘Have You Ever’ hitmaker had no subject off topic!  Discussing everything from her renewed love life to present battles with stage fright, her electric 2012 BET Awards tribute performance to idol Whitney Houston, and more, Miss Norwood’s candid interview finds her also revealing a plot to return to T.V. as star of her own show.

And, while Moesha fans get excited in anticipation, the diva also sheds light on her forthcoming album ‘Two Eleven’.  Headlines revealed this week the singer’s once August-slated release has now been pushed back to October 2, much to her dismay.

Hear the ‘Vocal Bible’ voice her opinion on these topics, the highly anticipated ‘Put It Down’ video, and more below:

Why the hell does TGJ continually refer to her as the “Vocal bible?” Please. If she’s the Vocal Bible, then I’m the Queen of Israel.

Anyway, she should be glad that it was pushed back…because from what I can tell pre-promotion has been limited to say the least. If it had come out in August, it would have tanked. At least now they can pretend to prepare for it.

Why hello your majesty!! Nice to meet you!

    • Rythm July 22, 2012

Shows how much you know about Brandy. You’re hating and don’t even know the facts. It is a known fact other artists in the industry gave Brandy that title. A lot of your favorite artist, writers and producers came up listening to Brandy and are aware of her vocal talents and as such give her the props. TGJ aren’t the ones who gave her the title, they are simply “in the know”.

  2. @xceptnothin July 20, 2012

he play the videos too f***** long

  3. Burmy July 20, 2012

Brandy should NOT have signed to RCA…she should’ve gone INDEPENDENT and BEEN HER OWN BOSS. (She could do that, she’s been in there long enough)

    • JoArmy July 21, 2012

ewww no look what happen to ashanti

  4. RoyalKev July 20, 2012

I love her personality, Bran is hilarious! She makes me laugh almost everytime I watch her in interviews. I’m a little sad about the new release date, but I’m a firm believer in taking as long as you need to get it right. It’s all about quality at the end of the day. The Starz will have her back regardless.

  5. BEYONCE’S WEAVE July 20, 2012

The promo for the project has been horrible, she should be glad that the release date has been pushed back. Finally RCA does something right, I do not know which ghetto they picked the head of marketing or current CEO from but of late RCA has underwhelmed. They need to pick their game up quick, as of right now consider yourself lucky to be signed to Interscope, Epic or Island Defjam because RCA and Universal Republic kind of suck.

    • ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) July 21, 2012

RCA has been doing a horrible job at marketing and promoting since 2010, when they let ‘Bionic’ flop. They screwed up with Usher, Chris Brown and Adam Lambert already this year and they keep messing up. But in all honesty, I don’t think there is such a thing as a good label out there right now.

Interscope messed up with GaGa’s single releases and with Madonna’s album and let’s not even talk about JoJo. and Epic messed up with Ciara’s “buzz single”.

Brandy please honey. Please. Go somewheres and have a seat. Gorl you can have a seat right here next to me chile i have several seats for you. That queen with the braids needs to put his stancap in the closet because it’s tired. And Brandy STFU about pushing back your album back. Like you were so busy you couldn’t promote “It All Belongs to Me” and put your album out. CHILE Mariah, Janet, BeYAWNce, Rihanna have all toggled multiple singles at a time. Hell Rihanna’s been on a dozen singles in the past year.

    • Ugh July 21, 2012

      LMAO

      • Brandylover August 1, 2012

no you STFU and fill those empty seats with other haters like yourself and leave Brandy out of it…peace

hahahaha you actually thought that was funny. U ass

  8. christinastherealtalent July 20, 2012

RCA has a bad reputation of mishandling all their artists. At this point, not even a video or live performance will revive the song. Her label released the song too early and waited too late to film the video and release the damn thing.

Brandy, instead of using your interviews to help revitalize Chris Browns tarnished image, you need to be telling people why they should buy your new album and find some newfound love for you. You need to remind us who Brandy is instead of trying to help rebuild Chris’ image. Release a song that doesn’t have his name attached to it. When people see that, theyre not going to be interested. Just focus on bringing your lagging career back to life.

    • ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) July 21, 2012

I agree that RCA is awful, but in Brandy’s case, they haven’t messed up at all. They’ve handled her amazingly well. The song was not taking off at the beginning, but now it’s rising faster on radio and its YouTube views are higher as well, so the timing is right to release the video.

    • mobwife July 21, 2012

B**** have a seat. I think it’s funny how no one B****** & MOANS, WHEN WHITE PEOPLE come to the defense of their own!

Everyone and their mother has come out to support Charlie Sheen (20 year history of beating women & drug use). Mel Gibson (beat his ex-wife and his ex-gf while she was holdin gtheir infant daughter). Miranda Lambert & Blake Sheldon both skanks, praised multiple wife beater Glen Cambell (who knocked out Tanya Tucker’s 2 front teeth). Sean Penn beat two wives but won an OSCAR in 09!

The movie theater killer in CO, JAMES HOLMES who just maimed & murdered many ppl – a large number of African American’s – yet the PTB are trying to declare him”mentally ill”. Had he been BLACK, he would have 1st been KILLED , then he would have been labeled a THUG, DRUG DEALER, LOWLIFE, WOMAN BEATER, WELFARE KING…blah, blah, blah

It’s WILD THAT AFRICAN AMERICAN’S CANNOT SUPPORT THEIR OWN PEOPLE WITHOUT SOMEONE COMPLAINING. All blacks SHOULD STAND UP AGAINST A CONTINUED RACIST PLOT or be the next victim of one! Other ppl stand up for their own kind without question!

Oh and f*ck Chistina who is tarnished but a WHITE FEMALE so she’s a superstar regardless! GTFOH

      • Pucci July 21, 2012

ctfu I agree with you 100%. It will always be a mystery to me as to why Hollywood shuns Chris Brown but supports other non African-Americans who have done the same crime, like Charlie Sheen.

      • christinastherealtalent July 21, 2012

You are f****** stupid. It’s people like you who add on to all the panic of stereotypes placed on different races of human. I’m white but I am disgusted at James Holmes and my heart goes out to all affected by what happened. I’ve never been into Charlie Sheen so I don’t care what he has to say or do. I love Brandy and her music and was merely blaming RCA for f****** with her career. I don’t care for Chris because he’s a little punk who acts like a little b**** and has anger problems. I don’t pay any attention to what happened to Mel Gibson because ive never been a fan of his. So now you see I have no racial hang ups. Don’t play the f****** race card with me you horrible c*** because I will school your ass any day of the week. And I will stand by with my comment about Brandy quit talking about Chris in her interviews and just focus on promoting your own damn music and rebuild your image. Just to prove I have no racial hang ups, I can’t stand Britney Spears, Katy Perry or Lady Gaga because they’re all attention whores and very untalented.

  9. ENOUGH ONIKA July 20, 2012

Yep saw this coming months ago. Like I’ve said in every Brandy post, Put It Down was a horrible choice for a comeback and this is the result…

  10. MH July 20, 2012

    Amazing interview. Very insightful.

  11. Honestly Speaking July 20, 2012

I commented on this earlier however even her label knows that she is a flop waiting to happen. No one has been checking for Brandy since 1998 and I don’t see it changing now. She can shake her ass to Beyonce’s 2003 choreography if she wants to but it isn’t going to help her sell a record. Next.

    • 4EVERSHITTINGONYOU AKA KNUCK July 21, 2012

oh, HEY ms cleo! can you predict when you will be moving out of section 8 too? fix your hatin ass wig b****.

    • Ugh July 21, 2012

I agree. Brandy needs to get the world’s attention somehow. I don’t know how but she needs to do something because “Put It Down” is not touching the world.

    • Pucci July 21, 2012

Sweetie, are you still commening? Get therapy please, its not that serious.

  12. ajm265 July 21, 2012

lol go in and let have i cant with the comments in this thread…. where are them stars now

  13. Todd July 21, 2012

So many Brandy Haters damn….Please stop posting negative s***..its really getting old….i really can care less if her album flops or not im a fan she’s an amazing artist and we just dont have singers like her anymore point blank period!!!!…Im f****** glad to be getting new material from her!!!!!!!!! 2/11 Oct 2

    • ENOUGH ONIKA July 21, 2012

Brandy is great but I don’t understand why people act like there aren’t real vocalist still out there. You must only listen to Top 40 crap…And I’m sure Brandy cares if she flops, otherwise you would’ve had the album by now. Why would a so called “fan” not want the best for her?

      • Britt July 21, 2012

Amen. It kills me when the fans of artists say they don’t care if their favorite artists flop or not. That let’s me know that they know their idol is going to flop, so they are already trying to come up with excuses. You are so right if Brandy didn’t care how her album sales than she wouldn’t be pushing it back and she wouldn’t be complaining about how her last album didn’t sell.

  14. JoArmy July 21, 2012

I hate s***** labels ugh!!! Wackgroundrecords and now RCA……

  15. 2/11songscribe July 21, 2012

If there is anyone happy about this release date its me. I wasn’t pleased by the 8/28 release from the get go. I am a devoted brandy fan and i knew the date was way too early, given the promo situation. Now she better promote more as the single still hs got a chance and its steadily rising up the charts. She should drop a second single in mid Aug, video end of Aug, another single end of Sept, drop the album early Oct and simultaneously drop the vid. Love me some Bran!

  16. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) July 21, 2012

Her interviews are always nice to watch, because she’s honest. That’s a good thing. I don’t really like ‘Put It Down’, but a late 2012 release date gives her enough time to release another single. I’m sure what I’m about to say won’t please her fans, but I think a December date would work much better 😳 😎

I’m glad ‘Put It Down’ is doing well, though. It’s not there yet, but it’s rising, so I hope that it works for her 🙂

  17. mobwife July 21, 2012

I’m beginning to think that NO BLACK R&B ARTIST should sign to any record company. They should all just go independent. The new structure of the record industry sees these companies only truly supporting and promoting a handful of artists while wiping their feet on the backs others! IMO

    • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 21, 2012

part of me think this way tho , especially after what they did with Usher’s and Cb’s albums !!

  18. mobwife July 21, 2012

It’s funny how they always pusdelay the release of Black artists/R&B CDs so they can release more music. Then the ppl b**** & moan that an atist has too much music out prior to the release of the damn CD. You just can’t please ppl these days!

    • Ugh July 21, 2012

R&B is NOT selling therefore it’s NOT priority at the labels! Why don’t people get this………………………………………

  19. mobwife July 21, 2012

I really like this interview! Brandy has come into her all. I say the same of Monica Brown. Both ladies exude a confidence that is just beautiful to witness! Being in the public eye as a t*** and growing up making mistakes is something that occurs but those mistakes don’t have to define who a person is.

You fools can b**** about her defense of Chris Brown (mainly because the media wants to exploit her words as a wcontinued weapon against him) but what she says is true. You have to allow YOUNG BLACKS the same freedom to fall and rise as you give YOUNG & OLD WHITES!

  20. antertain July 21, 2012

First of all what a great interview and thats mainly because Brandy was so open when speaking.

Really enjoying this side of Brandy where its all kept real, and i love how she fully connected to her fanbase demands + im glad she gets that we love her vocal ability as well as lyrical content and feel good delivery.

RCA are a strange label. Not sure they really get how to work the urban stars.
With Monica they let her do the album she wanted but didn’t pull her up on giving it abit more tempo, which made the album lack a spice that Still Standing had. Now with Brandy they delaying her when she is ready to impact. The song been out so long and only just recently the video. Timing is everything i guess but that release date is long!!!

  21. CoCo July 21, 2012

You are so right. Brandy is one of the best vocalists out . She can do amazing things with her voice. People are gonna hate. I will never understand why people feel they have to tear somebody down to build themselves up. It’s probably because they are not happy with themselves. Noboby is gonna ever be in agreement about anything anyway. Just agree to disagree. People, please stop all the HATE. Whether you are a Beyonce fan (which I love), Brandy (which I love), Mary J (which I love).I could go on for days which all the great women of music. At the end of the day, these are all beautiful human beings who deserve our respect. That’s why I rarely read blogs because of comments like this. Before you try to tear someone else down, take a good look in the mirror. When is your album gonna drop. How many grammys have you won. How hard did you work on your video. I’m just saying.

  22. Flaless July 21, 2012

Ugh, brandy has such a beautiful way about her, ill never stop being a fan of hers because she really seems the love and care about her fan base. Shes a great example for the rest of the industry in that light.

  23. gaia July 21, 2012

Brandy needs to hook up with Mary Mary producers and do a Gospel Album….

    • Ugh July 21, 2012

      no

    • Robert Johnson July 21, 2012

That’s actually not a bad idea. I would love to hear just one gospel Album from her

  24. LOL July 21, 2012

The guy is a Mary stan that’s cool as hell

  25. Corey July 21, 2012

This is why Artist like her and Monica should become independent artists all this push backs is not good. First and foremost promotion, if i’m not mistaken Brandy was overly promoted she needs to get back on her grind in that way and stop waiting for the record label to come up with the money. Prime Example Mya is an independent artist and yes she is not on the hits list because she also fails to promote herself except with mixtapes her career could see longevity. She is not waiting on the record label to validate and promote.

  26. Ugh July 21, 2012

Well genuises, why do you think RCA pushed the album back?

  27. MusicB July 21, 2012

Yes, it’s a disappointment that the album will be delayed but REAL fans will be willing to wait for their artist.

  28. POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 21, 2012

forget about the post , i’m dying over those comments 😆

  29. monstarebel July 21, 2012

  35. Kyle July 22, 2012

I’m so excited for her album. I was hoping that it was going to stick with the 8/28 release date but I had a feeling it was going to get pushed back. Once the “Put It Down” video comes out, she better get out there and start promoting the hell out of this project. Regardless though, I will buy it whenever it drops.
