New Video: Willow Smith – ‘I Am Me’

Tonight saw Willow Smith unveil her latest music video ‘I Am Me‘ at the 2012 BET Awards Pre-show.

A moving piece on individuality and ‘only living once’, the heartfelt visual sees Ms. Smith ditch the pomp and pageantry we met in ‘Whip My Hair‘ and show the world a side of her it’s never seen before.

Loved the message ! So positive. But she has better vocals then some grown artists ..*Cough* now waits for these grown folks to come in here and start hating! While Willow is still getting PAID! And can buy you and your family over and over again! Lmao

excuse me, lets not play the “adults shouldn’t hate game” because her record label wouldnt be saying “adults shouldnt buy” when her album comes out .

this is trash if i ever saw it. The cheek of this girl to pretend to be homeless, swinging her head from side to side as if she doesn’t have a chicken bone to spare.

The Smiths have become the posterchild for a pretentious brand of celebrity who PRETEND to “keep it all the way real” but have enough money to switch it up once “keeping it real” goes out of fashion.

There is a reason school exists and that is where this little girl needs to be going because this video just proves how deluded she and her family is to think we’d buy her “oh look at me, so real and so modest” when the only reason we know who she is because of her father’s wealth.

You need the whole s*** slapped outta you! you sound like the parent who’s baby dad is wealthy and left you and you hating on ya flossing child. WILLOW SMITH was not trying to pretend to be homeless, The message i got was that No matter what her name is she’s just a normal person trying to live in a world that’s not full of celelbrity. The fact that you came and tried to tear down the beautiful art that this young person created is to me another reason why today’s youth is killing, disrespecting, and living the lives they are. They don’t have adults to say “Hey this is great, or This is beautiful, or Keep up the good work” What she did was let HER PEERS know that it’s ok to be who you are on the inside, and do the things that make you happy in life, what was wrong with that message? And she doesn’t make music for adults SHE MAKES IT FOR YOUR KIDS ASS WHOLE. So no you shouldn’t be judging a kid. THERE KIDS!

      • DOMZ_NATION July 2, 2012

ass HOLE * ….. THEIR * Kids …, I agree completely with your statement ….Where’s the love ?

  3. Bam Bam July 1, 2012

Did she really just say “Aint nobody got time for That” Like her name is Sweet Brown….Good message but long and weird……..

  4. LindseyMari July 1, 2012

I don’t even think children should be dealing with issues like this at her age to be making a song/video about individuality. It shows a chunk of her childhood has already faded away. Nice message, but it seems way ahead of her time though.

      Yer dumb

  5. DeL_Cappella July 1, 2012

what is this lil baby going through to make her create a song like this

    • Benron July 2, 2012

Nothing. She is trying to be original!

  6. Dunno July 1, 2012

The response from the previous comments are befuddling to me. This young lady is giving words of encouragement to the most impressionable. She says she doesn’t have the time or care to worry about people talking about her dress or her hair, she is who she wants to be and that’s the greatest love she needs. I don’t understand how anyone could say anything but positive words about this this song.

  7. Tbozfan10 July 2, 2012

It’s obvious that all the negativity from different blogs has gotten to her and understandably! She is 11 years old and is very much exposed to the world. I think that she was truly speaking from her heart and can imagine all of this is very confusing to a child. Please get a bigger budget for your videos though! I could tell you weren’t even standing at the location in a lot of scenes!

This lil b**** is out of control

    • TK July 2, 2012

Wow, you’re calling an 11 yr old little girl a b****? Kill yaself!

      • nicki and bee # 1 fan July 2, 2012

she might not be a b**** but she is a spoiled little brat i can say this im 12

    • UNCLE DELORIS July 3, 2012

I thumbed down ths comment but laughed like s*** after. As I’m sure everyone else did. But Sr/may’am , that doesn’t give u the right to call ANY one (let alone a child) a b****.

  9. Julian July 2, 2012

I like all of your comments and agree with all of them also. It’s a conundrum because its a good message and one almost bought until she started talking at the end and it took on a slightly preachy dimension.

My favorite delivery from this thread and tbh the most relevant…….’ The cheek of this girl to pretend to be homeless, swinging her head from side to side as if she doesn’t have a chicken bone to spare.
The Smiths have become the posterchild for a pretentious brand of celebrity who PRETEND to “keep it all the way real” but have enough money to switch it up once “keeping it real” goes out of fashion…… I wish the girl well but I think its important to keep perspective.

idk i kind of like it. everybody is hung up on how old she is and what does she know, well yes she is rich without doing anything but that doesn’t mean her life is perfect, rich people can be just as screwed up as the rest of us. if you dont’ like it don’t listen plain and simple

  12. KIMBERLY July 2, 2012

WOW WILLOW, I REALLY LOVED IT. LET THEM KNOW THEIR VALIDATION MEANS S***. GREAT

  13. bips July 2, 2012

funny how people think cause u have money u can’t have problems……sure that she’s fortunate….but she’s a human being who have to deal with one of the biggest issue ever in the life of a human being:finding yourself, and to be comfortable with who you are,and when u have a father and a mother who had already accomplished so much ,it can be really difficult to find your way…. good luck to her sometimes it takes a lifetime to realise that u must do it…kudos to her to realise that she must do it at such a young age!!!

  14. skrrtwait July 2, 2012

maybe that’s why people with money don’t come back because once you stop struggling people have issues when you try throwing positivity into the atmosphere. just because she has money why does that mean she has to buy clothes that make her LOOK rich. that 11 year old gets it more than most of yall. she’s 11 and people attack her so she has issues stemming from supposed grown ass folks who are mad she’s more talented than half the people you hear on the radio. i guess she should sing materialistic b******* since her parents made? stfu! but then yall would attack her… go tell the youngin’s in your life to listen to her, your negativity in dealing with a kid is not healthy and i hope you don’t steal their dreams away. Maybe her issues and problems are from you guys mad her dad is Will Smith.

prepubertary. see you in 5 years. then you can talk. 4REAL

  16. Oh Yeah!!! July 2, 2012

Cross between Avril Lavinge and RIhanna (on a good day when she is in tune) and a drop of Beiber!!

  17. Sheltop July 2, 2012

This was beautiful! This girl is gonna be a great musical artist when she’s older. Her talent is huge now. I love the message of the song, I’m a fan.

  18. Benron July 2, 2012

Hold on, what chance do you think that she WROTE this song? She is going for ssales for her constantly pushed back album that was due months ago.

  19. whatashame July 2, 2012

i think the problem is not the song but that everyone thing around her is so fake and contrived. If her brand was more genuine and less fame whoreish this song could have been beautiful.

Watching her behavior really makes me value my childhood and the formal education that came with it.

  20. REE July 2, 2012

    SHES TO GROWN…. 21. Aaliyah is Queen B**** July 3, 2012

Unless there’s something else going on here (like Jada and Will’s rumored marital problems) Idk why this child is so depressed? Like I’m really baffled. She had one hit “whip my hair” and now she’s a depressed kid who’s childhood has been taken from her, like huh? She had no where near the success some child acts had like Michael Jackson and Britney Spears (who had a right to be depressed from all the press). She can walk around the streets and pretty much be left alone. It wasn’t until she started shaving her head, coloring her hair, and getting fake piercings that people started to talk. She apparently did all of that too because she was “depressed” but depressed over what?!!!

  22. MRDIVABITCH July 3, 2012
