This Sunday, Rita Ora is set to enjoy her first UK #1 album with her debut effort ‘ORA’, three years after signing to Jay Brown‘s ever growing company, Roc Nation.
Responsible for crafting many of the album’s cuts, this week saw the singer reveal how Coldplay front man Chris Martin played an vital role in its structure- crediting him for his part in crafting its track list.
Her explanation below…
Speaking to the UK’s ‘Metro’, Ora revealed:
After my final show supporting Coldplay, we all went around to his house and I played him my songs and he helped me pick the order for the album.
He said to think of the ones that mean the most to me. He said he loved the way I perform – that I have a lot of energy.
He went through my songs and told me what he liked.
This wouldn’t be the first time one of Jay Z‘s leading ladies has credited the rocker for bringing ideas to the ROC table.
Back in 2011, Pop belle Beyonce revealed Martin had helped her pick the set list she performed at the Glastonbury Festival.
This, months before he teamed up with Rihanna for the smash hit single ‘Princess Of China‘, which the pair performed at the 2012 Grammy Awards ceremony.

They had all these TV commercials for this LP; they stuck her poster up on every subway / tube station; they had her go to Manchester and London to do a PERSONAL in store signing ; Beyonce went o her blog to pay tribute to her ” girl ” Rita and how much she loves Shina ya light which is sung in a faux west indian accent in the exact same way as Rih. They had Jay z on twitter begging, now Jay has this video about RIP – the track that died on itunes – now this Colplay name dropping.

Let’s look at it this way. Jessie J only released two singles in the US one peaked at 23 and the other made it to 6. She had almost no promotion here(definitely not as much as Rita) and she wasn’t cosigned by the biggest name in music. She achieved that while Ritas two singles so far have only gotten her a peak at 62 on the billboard chart. The other one only charted on the dance and party songs aka ‘billboard rejects that couldn’t make the list so we decided to put it somewhere.’ She should be at least surpassed Jessie J by now with all the money that’s been thrown at her and she can’t even do that. Having all these celebrities cosign her clearly is not working. Not even her connections with Drake or Rob Kardashian has helped her. Most of the urban world know her as a poor man’s Rihanna or the girl in Drake’s video who dated the Kardashian kid. I think it’s best she stays in the UK and saves herself the embarrassment.
