She may have a new “image” but judging from that snippet the song sounds like any other song that she’s recorded thus far. I’m not hearing this new and exciting sound that she has been hyping for the past few months.
Why change something if it isn’t broke. This is Alicia, and the song sounds like it can be a hit. Can’t wait.
I didn’t say that the song sounds bad. I simply said that it sounds like something that she would typically record and that it could’ve been included on any one of her previous albums. Alicia is the one that has been going around proclaiming this new album to be her best album yet and “musical cake”; but the first offering from that “cake” that she speaks of is already sounding dated and could have fit seamlessly on ‘As I Am’. Don’t get an attitude with me because she’s still following the same formula that she’s basically been using since her debut and is trying to pass it off as something brand new.
I have no attitude…just saying that I like it. Anyways, I can’t take you seriously…your comments on other posts are typically rude if it doesn’t concern an artist that you like.

I actually agree. She HAS been saying that this is going to be a fresh sound for her…I was thinking something like New Day was gonna be released. Of course, it was only a few secs. So we can’t say just yet. For instance, No Doubt’s new single just released & it is nothing like I thought it would be based on the snippet I heard before. The beat flips between dubstep & dancehall or something. Hopefully, something similar takes place on Girl On Fire.

I can’t believe some of these comments. First I read complaints about Swizz changing Alicia and people want to hear the old Alicia. They don’t want her to change and then when she admitedly states she has changed so much and is getting ready to show some new music poeple complain again about her not changing and staying the same. hm? I like what I hear. Alicia has always been a hit and miss for me but one thing I love about her is she stays true to her roots.

I love anything Alicia puts out, some more than others, but still it’s all good. I hope she has her best performance yet and blows us all away. I like the sound of this song and am looking forward to hearing it in it’s entirety. On another note, people are so judgemental today, and of course this song and she may not to appeal to everyone, but that’s alright, there are many other artists out there so there is no reason for slamming her just because you may not like her or her music. I’m looking forward to watching Ms. Keys burn up that stage. 🙂

The song sounds great and I think majority agrees. It’s just Alicia made it seem like her sound would be totally different and like nothing you’ve heard from her before. This song’s snippet sounds like her previous albums. Her yelling notes that she know she’s can’t hit during a live performance.

For some reason, I can’t get into her though I believe she is truly talented. She’s just not for me. I have yet to buy one of her albums. I feel like their are a lot of artist out their that are truly underrated.

Alicia has always released good stuff and all that but she is far from being one of my favorites. But she started a change with The Element of Freedom and in this album I think she is going in for it big way. Maybe it was what I needed from her to fully embrace her artistry.
