The song is catchy without being generic. That doesn’t mean it will flop. It’s radio friendly without following the formula of easy pop hits. That’s actually a good thing, not a disadvantage 😉 Besides, ‘Titanium’, ‘We Are Young’ and ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ were also huge hits this year and none of these songs is generic. 😎

You actually provide a decent argument, but I still do not agree with your point of view. Like Jonvidal stated, titles do not switch from one person to the next. Whitney has a phenomenal body of work and Christina hasn’t reached those heights, therefore she can’t cancel out Whitney in that respect.
Whitney’s choices (drug addiction) have nothing to do with the impact she has left after acheieving record-breaking success (some of which will never be duplicated ever on the charts, and success that Christina could only dream of acheiving).
As far as the Christina and Bey comparison, that’s debatable and I personally prefer Bey’s control over Christina’s power. I also think Celine’s voice today is still in great condition and again it’s debatable in that case as well as far as who’s better. I’m not a fan of Celine, but I’ve noticed that she doesn’t strain or struggle with her notes while singing live.
Furthermore, I have nothing against you feeling that Xtina is YOUR voice. I’m here for her comeback and I prefer her to some of the artists you’ve mentioned, but you certainly can’t dismiss people that have inspired Christina and place her above them (which would imply that she was better than these artist while they were in their prime). … and lets go back to what the post is really about, Ms. Xtina’s new record.
1. For being just a demo, this is legit. Awesome production paired with her somewhat controlled vocals. The results? a smooth, s***, sultry pop anthem. Again people for being an unmastered version, I’m impressed.
2. After listening to it a few times, It’s still very Christina with the naughty lyrics and over all “You already know my name” attitude. Still, she’s right, I totally know her name and this record makes me want to see what else she has to offer this era. I hope tight visuals for her music videos + actual promo on the song.
3. To everyone (including myself) who compare all these singers. Man we need to stop! Everyone has ups and downs, flops and hits, everyone has shined once, very brightly and maybe some are diminishing but some of the comments here made me change my mind about who’s the “Voice” truth is, they all have been and/or are and even if they aren’t, like Rihanna and J.Lo, I still appreciate the records they do, they are (often) legit.
4. back to the main topic. I cannot wait to see what she (and her team) will do with this, CLEARLY people are talking about it and if you really do your research, you’ll discover a couple or 3 different demo versions, all similar but with slight differences. Anyway, this record has the potenial to be huge (if handled right) I mean how could it not be? its just the demo and already its buzzing everywhere.
5. Seriously has anyone never told her that she just screams sometimes? like does she not knwo she does this, especially when she’s live? I mean I appreciate her voice, she kind of is the voice for me, especially on records but live is a different story. I wonder if she knows this? like honestly, knowing her I would believe NO ONE has had the balls to tell her “Look b**** you need to quiet down some” cause you know shes a b****!! Idk, that would be my quesion if I am ever allowed “Christina, are you aware that you scream B**** when you sing live?”
