As previously reported, ‘Your Body’ beauty Christina Aguilera covers the latest issue of Billboard magazine.
Readying what is said to be a media onslaught – beginning with the visual release for her latest single – Aguilera undoubtedly as her aim set for the top of charts. And, if fan response to her new album ‘Lotus’ (November 13) lead single is any indication, she may be well on her way.
Alas, taking to Billboard, the singer directly addresses her thoughts on the failure of its predecessor ‘Bionic’ as well as her ‘diva’ showdown with former “rival” Britney Spears (X Factor). Candid as ever, get into what Xtina shared below:

On why she named her album “Lotus”:
This album represents a celebration of the new me, and to me the lotus has always represented this unbreakable flower that withstands any harsh weather conditions in its surroundings, that withstands time and remains beautiful and strong throughout the years. And now I’m at a place at 31, where the last time I felt this way was when I was 21 with Stripped and I had a lot to say and a lot to express.
On how “Lotus” compares to “Stripped”:
There’s a song called “Army of Me,” which is sort of a “Fighter 2.0.” There is a new generation of fans from a younger demographic that might not have been with me all the way but that watch me on the show now. I feel like every generation should be able to enjoy and have their piece of “Fighter” within. This time, the way it musically came together it just felt right for this time and this generation.
On what she learned from the “Bionic” era:
With Bionic I fully went in there with [the idea], “I’m going to experiment and not be commercial or pop.” I wanted to play with different sounds and textures of my voice while bringing an electronica feel to it because that’s what I was listening to a lot at the time. And it was a blast.
On how she feels about “Bionic’s” sales performance:
I can proudly say it was ahead of its time, to be honest. It wasn’t so commercialized. You had to really be a music lover, be a true fan of music and the love of being open to really appreciate that record. It’s just a special piece in my body of work that will forever live on. The older the record gets the more people will come to appreciate it actually and check it out.
On working with Max Martin:
[laughs] Max is legendary in the business. He’s known about me but we haven’t crossed paths. I think when I came in you heard his name with Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync, Britney Spears — those records were the kind I wanted to stray apart from. If you look at what I did in the past [after my debut], I always try to do things that will challenge me and challenge the listener, too. Could this have worked 10 years ago? I’m not sure. It’s taken us a decade in the same business and watching each other from a distance, so for us to now come together and respect each other’s work ethic and how we like to be heard and making a marriage out of it, I think “Your Body” is the best culmination of that.
On if she’ll be watching Britney Spears on X Factor:
[Laughs] I have no time to even watch my own show. So there’s your answer.

Damn Gaga stans are one of the dumbest. Bionic was commercial but that wasn’t Aguilera’s aim. Her goal was to experiment with her voice with the OPPOSITE kind of music she did with her B”B project (from classic raw 40s style to futuristic robotic style). & B**** please you actually f****** think Gaga’s set the electropop trend like all the other 14 year stans think LMAO? Is that why all of Madges albums within 1998-2005 were in the electronica/electroopp categories way before Kylie, GayGay and S******? Madonna was WAY ahead of her time.

I loved hearing about the album. “Bionic” was great, don’t care what nobody says.
It clearly wasn’t commercialized enough because it didn’t do anything for her on the charts or sales, so yeah………………
& it was more than just “pop” sounds, so I don’t see how commercialized it was, ti was multiple genre’s on the album, but to the basic kind, it would seem as just a pop/dance/techno/electronic album.
I’m extremely excited about “Lotus.”
Don’t see what much she has to worry about a song that is still in the iTunes top 100 @ #25 w/ no official promo. She has yet to perform the single, or yet to put the music video out. She’s doing rather well, & it’s doing extremely well on radio. But of course you can only expect the haters to find something that seems like a flaw to nag about.

“Bionic” is a great record. She’s a real artist to stand by her work. Alot of artists make excuses for an that doesn’t sale to well.

I love how a 30 second clip of the video and song with a itunes link on the TV screen to 13 million The Voice viewers becomes “no promo”.
its a 20 sec clip that was displayed during a commercial, and made the song jump from number 51 to number 4 on itunes within 3 hours! The song is smashing radio and is dropping slighly daily on itunes…it isnt plummeting…her promo campain starts next week…..we can see what it does after then!
13 to 4 actually, it had stalled before that clip.
(Before the commercials), she also had top ten exposure on itunes which it usually enough to hold you in the the top ten for a week at least if the public is there for you.
