Published: Tuesday 18th Sep 2012 by David

When you’re catalogue is as celebrated as Missy Elliott‘s, people have no choice but to anticipate the release of new material.

So, as to ensure she makes the most of her two new singles, the ‘Triple Threat’ joined long time friend Timbaland for an interview with our friends over at ‘The Breakfast Club’.

Addressing her new album and what she’d been up to during her hiatus, the interview also saw both she and Timbaland share their thoughts on Rap Royal Drake, and his contributions to Aaliyah’s forthcoming album.

I love this!! So glad she’s back! She has such a humble, kind and fun personality that makes you just fall in love with her genuineness. P.S. Where the hell is Kelly Rowland and why isn’t she promoting her single?? The song is hot (minus Wayne) and could do really well on urban radio if she….tried? Huh, another “Ms. Kelly” situation…

    • Monstarebel September 18, 2012

Gur you know Kelly slacks on the promo every era she needs a new team I think!

  2. Monstarebel September 18, 2012

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…… I guess……She’ll Flop anyways but I mean it will be funny to she her try…

    • JDGAF September 18, 2012

Missy is better than both Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. Both of them are talentless pop h***, who were created by their record labels and only exist to be of the moment fads. You wanna talk about flops…Nicki’s album ain’t selling s*** and TTT took a year to just go platinum. That’s a flop.

      Now what?

    • ENOUGH ONIKA September 18, 2012

Why even come on this post then? Your obviously into sh*t music like Onika and Ke$ha with your gay ass so of course Missy won’t appeal to wrist flailing queens like you.

    • DTG September 18, 2012

This coming from someone who is fans of the likes of Rihanna, Nicki and Ke$ha. 🙄 You’re a joke. Your taste in music is horrid and your opinion is beyond meaningless.

    • Monstarebel September 18, 2012

LMAO U B****** MAKE ME LAUGH NOTICE THE PEOPLE I LIKE ACTUALLY SELL!!! I BET YOU THIS D*** ASS B**** WONT SELL MORE THAN 90 K IN HER FIRST WEEK AND WILL ONLY TOP 106 N PARK COUNTDOWNS H**!!! YALL B****** KNO ITS THE TRUTH WE WANT YOUNG FRESH N NEW! NOT OLD TIRED AND BUSTED! XO

      • JDGAF September 18, 2012

Rihanna and Nicki don’t sell sweetheart. Missy is an icon who is respected in the industry, whose music is regularly featured on all-time best lists…and whose new music has been eagerly awaited for years. Unlike those corny ditz’s you like, she’s not some flavor of the month pop tart who no one has any respect for.

“Old, tired and buster”…what does your mama have to do with all that? 😉

      • ENOUGH ONIKA September 18, 2012

Because UNFORTUNATELY the industry as of right now is run by teens and ugly “I wish I was a female” f*** like you. So if they can flail they’re wrist and prance around in your momma’s high heels to it, you wanna call it a flop. _/ _/ And how is Onika young?? She’s a 30 y.o. clown who talks like she graduated primary school. But again, her dumb acting ass is what you ghetto, non educated, KFC employed homo’s can relate to. One of you have “made it…..”

  3. Vandrea September 18, 2012

Timbaland sounded like he was drunk. He was rambling his ass off, not making any sense.

    • credits September 18, 2012

This is the way he speaks in all of his interviews.

  4. Markus Arelius September 18, 2012

Wow, I love Missy but she threw so much shade towards today’s hip-hop genre

    • LDC September 18, 2012

I don’t watch the whole thing, but if she did then kudos to her. Today’s music is awful. Someone needs to call it out for being the garbage that it is.

Every so-called “star” of the moment (Drake, Wayne, Taylor, Gaga, Katy, Rihanna, Chris, Frank, Beiber, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, etc., etc.) is wack as f*** and needs to be banned from the recording industry.

  5. White girl mob September 18, 2012

Shout outs to kreayshawn for making it in the top ten pop album charts on iTunes yes! & kreayshawn is in the top 50 on iTunes album charts nicki Minaj ain’t the only female anymore charting kreayshawn is coming to take the crown hahaha

    • ENOUGH ONIKA September 18, 2012

      Kreay who??

      • White girl mob September 18, 2012

      • ENOUGH ONIKA September 18, 2012

How am I a “n****?” and I hate Nicki…You’re an ignorant idiot trailer park b*tch. Go sign up for community college and stop promoting a flop b**** who don’t give a sh*t about you and will probably be dead over a heroin overdose in the next five years.

    • truth(the one and only u b****) September 18, 2012

      you…are… the BIGGEST joke, h**

    • credits September 18, 2012

      Kreayshawn sucks, point blank.

  6. Nik September 18, 2012

I really liked this interview. I felt they gave good talk and spoke truth. I liked what they spoke on Aaliyah’s family, the industry today, and how they still talk to their friends from back in the day (Ginuwine, Tweet, Magoo). What they said about respect for artists was so true. It seems like this generation will disrespect someone who’s been in the industry over a decade for people who’ve been hot for 5 mins. For them to have been doing this for 20 years is a great accomplishment and whether one likes them or not, that deserves respect.

  7. justsomekid September 18, 2012

20:45 to 22:02 – THIS kids is what the new generation of sheep needs to understand about their “faves”.
So much truth in one interview, I’m surprised I was able to find one tiny soundbite to some up what is wrong with this generation.
Welcome back Missy – my God you were missed!

  8. max_ciara September 18, 2012

yeess yall batta bring up ciara

  9. Tay September 18, 2012

Her new music sounds soooo dated. I expected more from her! I’m soooo disappointed. Try again Missy!

    • credits September 18, 2012

Didn’t you listen to the interview? if you are a true artist, you never have to change your sound.

But what i think is that In a world where everybody sounds the same, DATED will be the new, new. Dated will be the new sound.

      • CzarM September 18, 2012

        Let’s hope.

  10. ARE YOU SERIOUS? September 18, 2012

Missy wanted to say Nicki Minaj is wack as s***, but decided to be nice lmao. It’s so funny when they ask people about Nicki and all they can say is you can’t hate on someone hustlin. Not one MC that has credibility says they like Nickis music lol

    • lola September 18, 2012

Um…. MC Lyte said she loved Nicki Minaj. WTF are you talking about?

  11. NICK September 18, 2012

    • Teacher September 18, 2012

F****** w/ Beyonce they ain gon get credit for it!

  14. BitchPlease September 18, 2012

If Char would’ve said that about Ciara in the first place I would’ve respected him but he didn’t.Instead,he trashed her every change he got.Me personally I feel Ciara is not here to tell her life story she’s here to make music..She’s special because of her dancing and performing skills. Why she should stand in front of a mic like’s she Lauryn hill when vocally we know she’s not?If she wants us to know her do tell all documentaries or E! News specials,,Behind the music or something..BUT TO THINK THAT SHE NEEDS TO USE BAD LANGUAGE,FLIP THE BIRD,DRESS SLUTTY,SMOKE BOMBS, SHAVE HER HEAD OR SOME CRAZY ASS BEHAVIOR TO BE INTERESTING IS RIDICULOUS.

  15. lola September 18, 2012

Missy seems down to earth and real, but I always wondered why she never put a lot of time and effort in her label artists such as Tweet, Jasmine (who won that talent competition that Missy hosted several years ago) and the young lady I saw rehearsing for Missy on her VH1 Behind The Music special. If she’s going ask “where’s the diversity?” or say that the older artists need to help the younger ones, how come she hasn’t blew her artists’ careers up?

As for Timbaland… um, you’ve worked with Rihanna, Drake, and Miley Cyrus….untalented and artists who are just in it for the money… why are you complaining about the state of music? You know what the f*** it is. You have been working with young, new artists with no substance and have a recycled sound as well so you need to shut up with your rambling ass! It looked like you just work up, rolled out of bed, didn’t wash your ass or brush your teeth and went to “The Breakfast Club.”

  16. B Lamont September 19, 2012

Great interview…especially the part about honoring the artists who came before the current ones. Such an honest interview!

  17. sharon September 23, 2012

I agree with both Missy and Timbaland. Music is just not the same anymore. Where is the diversity? The originality? Where is Hip Hop? All these new rappers don’t rap about anything other than girls, drugs, and s**. Old hip hop and rap had way more meaning not only did artist rap about their lives but about politics and about life. This new stuff is wack! Everyone is going in this trans, dubstep club scene and im sick of it!
