Though we loved its material (albeit a little one dimensional) the promotional plan employed to push Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ was in fact nothing short of an unorganized mess.
Ditching the structure and strategy that saw her debut album ‘Pink Friday’ score points on a commercial and critical front, the ‘white wash‘ look, mass release of ‘un-promoted’ singles, lack of televised performances and constant need to remind the world that she was ‘still Hip Hop’ saw her isolate the casual listener that had taken all of ‘Friday’s singles to Gold or Platinum status.
Of course, while this didn’t stop the album from being the highest selling Rap LP of the year, it was clear that the once glamorous and in tact Minaj was in desperate need of a branding overhaul if her third album was to do as well as her first.
Now, as to right the wrongs of yesteryear, the ‘Your Love’ MC is readying a campaign that may leave some of her naysayers no choice but to applaud her.

At 10.53 am (EST) on Tuesday, the video for her latest single ‘High School’ will launch on MTV in every single country the network is available in- creating what she has accurately billed… a ‘global premiere’.
That’s right, in what will mark her strongest video premiere to date, the Hip Hop love song’s clip will dominate the network one day after the a collection of the Rapper’s greatest videos will be placed on rotation on MTV Hits and MTV Jams for the entire day.
As if that wasn’t enough, it will air an exclusive interview with the ‘Autobiography’ belle named ‘MTV First: Nicki Minaj’– hours after she continues her media assault on AMTV and AMTV2, where more of her videos will be spun to boost momentum for the cut.

While it’s impossible to truly grasp how phenomenal this arrangement is until it happens, it’s safe to say this campaign couldn’t have come in aid of a better song. A song-which like most of the cuts on ‘Friday’-is Hip Hop made for the Billboard promised land, serving a sound edgy enough to be authentically Nicki but an infectiousness that will no doubt keep Sophia and Rosie entertained to no end.
With all this in mind, here’s hoping Camp Minaj have a number of live performances lined up to push the single even further and- if it’s part of their plan- score her her first US #1 single.

Beyonce’s upcoming fifth album has been pushed back until fall.
The ‘Mrs Carter’ album was due out on 16 April. But the two promotional songs that were released — “Bow Down” and “I Been On” have flopped. A source from Sony has said, “No one thought that both records would fall flat. They were supposed to be her biggest two songs off the album.”
The source says that Beyonce has gone back to the drawing board and will not release a single or an album before she goes on tour next month. The insider said, “It’s back to the drawing board. More promo songs will be released, until she gets a hit song that everyone will embrace.”
No official word from Beyonce’s camp, but her fifth album — entitled ‘Mrs Carter’ will not be hitting stores this April.
