Sad: Jodeci Booed Off Stage At London Show (Video)

Published: Sunday 24th Mar 2013 by Sam

For many, Jodeci define the golden era of R&B. However, at a 90’s reunion gig in London last night, the troubled quad reminded why some things are better left in the past.

Full story after the jump..

According to multiple sources, the group were disheveled, out of tune, and by most counts “wasted”. Indeed, so bad were the ‘Forever My Lady’ singers, they were embarrassingly booed off stage. Forget the Apollo, London crowds clearly don’t play.

Check out Tweets and clips from attendees below…

And then there’s the footage…

The episode is the latest in a long-line of tragic showings from the former chart-toppers, whose legacy has been rocked in recent years by drugs shame and performances such as this.

It’d be easy to “read”, “clock”, and “drag” them — and deservedly so. However, we’ll just keep them in our prayers and hope that last night serves as a much-needed mirror to the messes they’ve become.

Whatever the case, we’ll always remember them for hits like these…

I feel sorry for them…when people pay to watch you,try your best not to disappoint, however hard that is

  2. JARED (WHITE DUDE) March 24, 2013

The British have always been notorious for “unkempt crowds”, especially those who come from a generation when singers had to “sing. Hell, Gospel singers have been booed…

Anyway, it is sad! My friend is staying in London at the moment and she went – she said it was terrible. Apparently, people were shouting/screaming… She thought the fire alarm had went off at one point because there was that much of a ruccus. SWV weren’t all that either, according to her.

    • SIERRA March 24, 2013

      True.

      What a mess!!!

      🙁

    • Ldee March 24, 2013

SWV weren’t bad. the vocals were not great but it was still enjoyable. the organisitation stumbled a bit at the beginning but they really launched the show. thumbs up on damage, sisqo, blackstreet (top!) and changin faces (for trying)

      • Ldee March 24, 2013

        organisation**

      • L-Boz March 24, 2013

        what was wrong with SWV?

    • DOSSOME March 24, 2013

It’s sad how these talented artists fall prey to drugs and alcohol and fans have to painfully watch them destroy their own careers…

      • JARED (WHITE DUDE) March 24, 2013

        OMG, I know right…

Janis Joplin, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse etc.

When I reminisce, I feel like crying. When you look at their names, you just auto-matically think TALENT!!!

  3. SIERRA March 24, 2013

    Damn… How bad were they???????

People should also start booing that TALENTLESS S*** ‘RiHOEnna’… But this generation don’t know about talent so they prolly think it’s the best performer ever.

    >>>>>>>

  4. my forehead tho March 24, 2013

If they would have never specified the artist in those tweets, I would have swore they were talking about Rihanna and Chris Brown .

  5. Dev March 24, 2013

I didn’t go because i wanted to preserve my memory of Jodeci. I’ve seen SWV before and i have to agree that they were great! CoKo sounding like a recording (not in a obama inauguration way)

  6. amar March 24, 2013

i went to the concert, dru hill, swv, changing faces blakstreet put one hell of a perfomnce on, when jodeci turned up everyone left

  7. Kate Middleton March 24, 2013

    SAD…

  8. Jazmine March 24, 2013

It wasn’t even the real Jodeci! It was KC & JoJo and some random guy from road

    • DOSSOME March 24, 2013

KCI AND JOJO were amazing back then…whatever happened

      • Jazmine March 24, 2013

        @DOSSOME
I hear you, but what i mean is it was actually KC & JOJO a dn some other dude. Mr Dalvin and Devante Swing wasn’t there

  9. R.I.P Music 1920-2007 March 24, 2013

This is sad….To think K-Ci&Jojo at one point were premier performers and singers of their day. This is a prime example to how drugs can truly ruin god given talent….can’t help but to think Mary(MJB)is somewhere shaking her head saying, damn I’m glad we didn’t get married.

    • DOSSOME March 24, 2013

      @RIP MUSIC
Thank God MJB saved herself before it was too late

      • FAF March 24, 2013

Ok I agree but how u gon say music started in 1920 ? LMAO

  10. DOSSOME March 24, 2013

It’s sad how these talented artists fall prey to drugs and alcohol and fans have to painfully watch them destroy their own lives

    • Ropeburn March 24, 2013

Not all of them are alcoholics and drug addicts. Most of them haven’t put out albums for over ten years and haven’t done any shows beyond the “state fair” level in quite some time. They’re simply old and out of practice.

  11. So lady March 24, 2013

That wasn’t a random guy….that was Mr Dalvin…Devante was missing tho

    • Jazmine March 24, 2013

Really!!!! They all look bruck down

  12. mc the place to be! March 24, 2013

Man that concert sounded like a masterpiece changing faces performed….wow but it sad it didn’t turn out the way people were expecting to

  13. avi March 24, 2013

Not surprising. Things like this are the reason Jodeci only has a 5 year run.

  14. Natasha March 24, 2013

Leave Rihanna & Chris Brown alone!!!! This post had NOTHING to do with them, and yet some way some how some of you on here without a life purpose. For those likes to disrespect Rihanna by calling her talentless and out of her name I’d like to know what your talent is, how good you are at it and how you live your life.

  15. amar March 24, 2013

jodeci have now said wembley were to blame not them because they didnt get a chance to rehearse etc

    • ariesgoddess March 24, 2013

If that was Jocedi’s response that’s a shame. Need to own your mistakes. These guys really need rehab and like my mother would say ‘Jesus’.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when Jocedi came on stage. From when Mr Darvin jumped off the stage’ that was it, the show went downhill. So bad that Druhill, Blackstreet
and SWV had to come out and rescue them from the closing song. No encore as not deserved lol. Should have been Druhill as the headline act!

A headline act that couldn’t even maintain their professionalism for 1 night. However, nuff respect to SWV, Druhill and Blackstreet. You put Jocedi to shame.

Let us remember that Jocedi are now in their 40s but unfortunately two of them thought they were still performing in the 90s. KCi you need to stop holding your underneath and keep your tongue in your head.

So disappointing as this was the first time I have seen Jocedi in concert. So I have a right to ‘mouth’ off as a fan that paid a lot for front row tickets. Jocedi sort yourselves out. You are big men with kids. Last night’s performance was an embarrassment to the RnB world. SAD.

  17. Drew March 24, 2013

Wasn’t this concert the one that had SWV & Changing Faces on the line up too? Freek’n You is still one of my favorite Jodeci songs though…

  18. toohotfortv March 24, 2013

OoOOooHh YEAH! LMFAO… K-Ci look like somebody’s grandpappy. lawl. I know Mary J is happy that chapter of her life is over.

  19. LIlith Affairs March 24, 2013

Mary must be so happy K-C left her. He looks like he got the bug.

  20. Riqueen March 24, 2013

I wonder what Fantasia thinks. Theyr’e first cousins. I used this group

  22. Uniqueone March 24, 2013

Ok so I was there last night and firstly Jodeci were not that bad, going to a show and expecting them to sound like they did almost 15 yrs ago is straight up crazy!!

People went there with the wrong expectations.

Any real jodeci fan knows that the song “lately” is sung accapella so why the hell people started booing and moaning is beyond me.

Yes jodeci came out late but that was because blackstreet took up almost an hour of the showtime!! Half of which was taken over by teddy himself.

Jodeci started off well but you could clearly see that their confidence was knocked with all the booing and chanting!!!

I was so embarrassed by the rude people in the audience booing and moaning as if they could get up there and sing any better!!! Disgusting behaviour on all accounts by the audience.

Jodeci were trying to engage with the audience but people were having none of it, it really was bad and left an awful vibe to what was otherwise a great night.

    • Ariesgoddess March 24, 2013

      Uniqueone,

Although I agree with some of your comments’ you give me the impression that you were at another show!

Jocedi did not live up to the hype!. Clearly out of it and overshadowed the other performances, leaving the audience that were hardcore fans disappointed and disheartened.

If you had front seats you would have seen it all! I don’t think you could excuse them for such a poor performance.
Sad as it may be, begging to stay on a bit longer is not acceptable. If you perform good, you get encore!

Teddy R may have been on stage abit longer but how do we know if Jocedi was even ready to perform ! Lol

  23. MzDee March 24, 2013

That was K-ci, JoJo & Mr Dalvin who actually still look decent. Wth was Devante Swing!? Nevermind lol

  24. VFB March 24, 2013

Why does he sound and look like a washed up Baptist Store Front Church Preacher…LMAO LMAO LOL

  25. Ropeburn March 24, 2013

What’s the big deal? Rihanna shows up wasted and gives s***-tacular performances that make her look like a crack w**** singing karaoke all the time.

  26. Goddessunthesun March 26, 2013

    A waste of talent.

  27. Tamla March 28, 2013

What a shame. I’m not surprised since K-Ci & Jojo had a major problem with Alcohol and Drugs. Also, keep in mind that these guys should be grateful considering that The Brits have always been extremely loyal to Black Artists who always pay to see them when they fall on Hard Times. These guys should remember the Bobby Brown Situation where his struggles with Alcohol has damaged his credibility. They should take advantage of this situtation considering that Boyz To Men, Blackstreet and so many other Groups are going on the Road and are trying to get paid.

  28. WANDA May 22, 2013

FROM THE VIDEO YEAH THEY NEED TO CALL IT A QUITS OR THEY NEED TO PRACTICE A LOT BEFORE THEY TAKE A GIG HORRIBLE I NO NOT TO GO SEE THEM WHEN THEY COME TO MY CITY KEEP MY MONEY AND JOJO WAS ON THAT TV SHOW VH1 FOR DRINKING SO I KNOW I WONT GO SEE HIM HE LIKE TO BE DRUNK

  29. kim harris June 1, 2013

I saw them in the Fresh Festival Last year and they were great as far as im concern. Every artist has a bad night. Ive seen on various social sites where Beyonce had a bad night. Jodeci has aged and had a hard life. Grant it a life that they brought on themselves but we have all done things when we were young and dumb and they’re voices shouldn’t be expected to be the same as they were when they were in they’re prime. Jeeze! Give them a break.
