New Song: Mutya Keisha Siobhan – ‘Lay Down In Swimming Pools’ (Samples Kendrick Lamar)

Published: Thursday 14th Mar 2013 by Sam

Easily one of Brit-Pop’s most anticipated releases this year, Mutya Keisha Siobhan‘s comeback album is still being cooked up in Los Angeles.

The ladies, who served as the original members of the Sugababes, are currently in the studio with Solange producer Dev Hynes, after recently wrapping sessions with the iconic Diane Warren.

And while their new material isn’t quite ready to take out of the oven just yet, it didn’t stop the ladies from sharing a preview of the sound they’re channeling.

Today saw new cut ‘Lay Down In Swimming Pools’ released to the Soundcloud page of Hynes, who wrote:

“Just finished recording new music with Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan and the girls felt like having a bit of fun at the end of the last session – enjoy!!”

Take a listen to the track, which is built around Kendrick Lamar‘s hit ‘Swimming Pools’, after the jump…

While the track almost certainly won’t feature on the album, its sonically soothing sound is exactly what we anticipated the ladies would serve up come their return. Indeed, It plays to the best of their vocal strengths – both individually and collectively – and positions them in such a way that’ll appeal to their core base while enticing a new set of fans. *Hits ‘replay’*

They call them selfs the “original sugababes” when they cant even release an original song.
I don’t know why people are getting so excited over the “original sugababes” when Siobhan only done one out off seven albums Heidi Range is more of a sugababe then she is don’t get me wrong I do like Siobhan and I think she has the best voice out of the “original sugababes” but don’t forget why she left after one album cos the other two slags where bulling her.
Keisha can sing or dance for s*** & Mutya has a s*** voice as well along with a identity crisis the girl thinks she is a black woman and wants to be Misha B and has never had a solo number 1 hahaha
They are DESPERATE for this. The shade is they weren’t even big with the Sugababes name until HEIDI came.
But this site is INFESTED with ADS. You can’t come here and listen to anything without trying to sell you a slice of pizza.
This whole new group is a JOKE and I can’t wait for them to FLOP.
Who cares they will Flop hard its a shame cos Siobhan is the ONLY one with talent wish she stayed solo.
Lets not forget why she left the band after ONE album..!Bring on the NEW Sugababes Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah & Jade Ewen who can sing circles around them other whores.

LOL Take your medication. No-one gets that mad about a song. N** bag.

  12. @MRSORACARTER March 14, 2013

I love them, particularly their harmonies and self-respective vocals but….. I think they should have just covered ‘Swimming Pools’ not sample it with whack lyrics. They offbeat and just out of place, although I enjoyed the end part where they covered ‘Swimming Pools’ the best. Their original lyrics would’ve worked better on a pop beat.

Just being honest, love this though!

    YAY thats a hot remix

    Mutya shining on this 🙂

  14. Dev March 15, 2013

@PLEASE STOP you clearly have anger management issues. Where did I say you shouldn’t write what you had written? What did I write that required you to respond in such an aggressive way?
I think you need to consult with your parents because clearly there are se deep rooted issues with how you were raised to behave in such a manor.
We are all able to write what we want and people are able to respond in which way they feel fit. If you don’t want any replied at all you really need to keep your thoughts to yourself.
