As recent Hip Hop wins have shown, using the Hot 100 to determine how well a song is not always a good idea.
For, while some cuts may not sell enough week by week to score or hold Top Ten spots, they do sell enough to give the acts and labels behind much to smile about.

Leading the Rap pack for another week is ‘Trust Issues‘ MC Drake, no doubt the driving force behind each and every single he lends a verse or two to.
In at #37 comes his A$AP Rocky led jam ‘Problems’ which stands tall with 1,505,050 units sold, while the Lil Wayne led ‘Love Me’ soars almost as high 1,055,416 copies moved. Impressive, considering both songs peaked at #8 and #9 on the ‘Hot 100’ respectively.
Elsewhere, in what is really a testament to his star power and support from radio, his classic cut ‘Started From The Bottom’ now boasts sales of 989,003.
Over at Roc Nation HQ, Rihanna‘s singles will no doubt given the powers that be reason to pop open a bottle or two, after ‘Stay’ shifted 229, 148 to reach the 1,801, 714 mark as ‘Diamonds’ dusts its shoulders off with 2,854,789 copies moved.
Cementing her status as R&B’s Adult Contemporary Queen comes Alicia Keys. For, despite very little being done to drive this home to the general public, her song ‘Girl On Fire’ stands proud as one of the highest selling releases of the last year, with 2,645,864 sold in the US alone.
Featuring Rap Queen Nicki Minaj, the song still holds the #1 spot on R&B charts across the globe, serving as the biggest obstacle in the way of Kelly Rowland‘s rising smash ‘Kisses Down Low’ and Ciara‘s ‘Body Party‘- which debuted with sales of 18, 288 units three weeks ago.
