Just three weeks after release, Minaj‘s new single ‘High School’ soars to #14 on the Official Urban Chart, outselling Rihanna‘s US sleeper smash ‘Pour It Up’ and A$AP Rocky‘s ‘Problems’ which spends its 23rd week on the chart at #27.
However, it’s the Rapper’s Septuple Platinum hit ‘Starships’ and its supporting album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ that will give her cause to celebrate this week.
For, thanks to consistent sales generated since February 14th 2012, the Rap number has spent its 60th week in the Urban Top 40 while ‘Reloaded’ spends its 53rd week at #10.
All this, making Nicki the first artist since the dawn of the decade to hold a spot on the both Urban Top 40’s in every week since release.
In simpler terms, since ‘Reloaded‘ and ‘Starships’ dropped, they have never held a spot outside of the Top 40, outlasting Jay Z & Kanye West‘s ‘The Throne’, Drake‘s ‘Take Care’ and Frank Ocean’s debut effort, ‘Channel Orange‘.
Standing proud as 2012’s highest selling Rap album in both the US & UK, ‘Reloaded’ also saw it outsell Alicia Keys’ ‘Girl On Fire’ this week when the release of ‘High School’s video shot it 14 spots back into the Top Ten, months after her 2 Chainz assisted ‘Beez In The Trap’ was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association Of America for sales of over 500,000 units.
Meanwhile, Iggy Azalea continues to soar in the nation with her 1st Down produced ‘Work’ this week. As it stands, the cut sits just 6 spots away from claiming the Urban #1 after leaping 5 places up from #12- while soaring 18 spots up to #36 on the overall chart.
As you read this, it sits at #3 on iTunes UK Hip Hop / Rap chart, one spot above Nicki’s ‘High School’ thanks to 13.45 million radio impressions nabbed in the last seven days, without the benefit of televised performance in the country.
