After months of buzz, Kelly Rowland‘s ‘Talk A Good Game’ finally strut into stores…today!
Preceded by Urban hits ‘Kisses Down Low’ and ‘Dirty Laundry’, the LP arrives on the heels of the singer’s unveiling as the new X Factor USA judge, as well as at a time when her overall “solo stock” is the highest it’s ever been. Indeed, these days the Destiny’s Child alum is omnipresent on R&B radio – by way of her own tracks as well as a number of features. Put simply, she’s winning. Still, it begs the question, though: is the album a “winner”?
In short, “yes”. Obvious singles may be a hard find (though ‘Gone’ is a must) and the lack of an uptempo grates, however the project is easily Rowland’s most sonically cohesive yet. A solid “body of work” in the truest sense. An album.

This is a solid album! I love the intro track Freak, I Remember, Down On Love, and Talk A Good Game as well as Put Your Name On It. Hey did you guys know that Freak is actually 3 years old?! Jamie Foxx sang it first and featured it on his last studio album. Kelly’s version put his toshame though!
loveeee this album..a true cohesive r&B album..who cares if there aren’t any songs for ‘the kids’ to pop their asses on the dance floor..this is music! its time to bring it back

Actually, there’s 5 bonus tracks…the standard edition has only 12 songs and the deluxe has 17…I don’t know why Target put “2 bonus tracks” on the cover…maybe it’s a typo/mistake??

Kelly is going up against the likes of Kanye, J Cole & Mac Miller! Rap artists always sells more! If Kelly doesn’t sell well trust me it’s not bcuz of her it’s bcuz R&B just doesn’t sale like it used too! & it didn’t help that her an R&B artist album leaked days b4 the album set to drop. This is happening not only 2 her but other artists as well…… she doesn’t have the fanbase of Ye & Cole! Entertainment industry aint nuthin but a popularity contest!

Kelly has never and will never sell that much in opening week..just because her posters and plastered on Billboards over nyc doesn’t mean she wasn’t promoting..Kelly promo has been strong this lap..and it will pay off..90+ guaranteed
I feel you. I am so proud of the promotion this time around. I was pissed with how HIA was handled but that Tim Witherspoon her management has done a GREAT job. I am not sure about first week numbers simply because there is competition. I am just excited her album is solid and cohesive. I am so in love with this body of work.

Some other standouts are Gone, Stand In Front of Me, Skywalker, This is Love, Number One & Street Life.
This is a great album. Kelly has define the odds and made a cohesive album. She was honest, bared her all, and did not give up on R&B like many others. This album is just what she needed. Kelly is here to stay with her new album, and X-Factor I’m sure others doors will start opening. Proud of her & will continue to be a fan of such a hard working humbled artist! #TAGG

as a whole, I definitely feel the album is stronger than Here I Am.
But the album is weak towards the end. The songs are a bit too similar and lack strong hooks. I would have preferred a few more uptempo tracks too.
I think the producers are still giving her B material. This girl is capable of so much more. Even the R&B is too safe. Look at Motivation, that song is still more edgy than anything on this album.
Still a good album, just need more from her.
This album in my opinion gives EVRYTHING…everyone doesnt need uptempo..Mid-tempo is PERFECT…everyone is doing uptempo and crunk and #turnup music..this is REFRESHING..i love everything about this CD

Best album ever… Gone shud definitely be a 3rd single, This Is Love is such a jam… But da album in it’s entirety is the greatest.

Kelly will do well this time around! She’s worked so hard! Already pre-ordered my copy and patiently waiting to start playing it! Haven’t listened to any tracks except Gone (On Jimmy Kimmel show) Dirty Laundry; Kisses down low and you’ve changed. They all sound super.
