With her new movie ‘Black Nativity’ set to drop on November 27th, Mary J.Blige has announced the release of an accompanying Christmas album….set to feature original material from the ‘Mr.Wrong’ vocalist.
Festive facts below…
Featuring duets from Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and ‘Autumn Leaves’ icon Barbra Streisand, ‘A Mary Christmas’ was announced in a piece by the Charleston Scene.
On the project, she explained:
“We’re in the process of beginning that. I’ve already come up with the title and started writing songs. You really have to focus on it. For me, I have to be living what I’m saying. I have to be around what I’m writing about. Sometimes if a word comes to mind, you have to type it down into your Blackberry or on a piece of paper so you don’t forget it, but that’s the only thing that happens on the fly. As far as writing goes, you have to concentrate to be in it.”
A genius idea considering the cross promo ops ‘Nativity‘ will bring it, the most exciting aspect of this album are the new cuts we’re set to receive from it.
Ever the R&B hit maker, we can’t wait to hear who Mary’s enlisted to help craft this new material- though we’d place good money on Jerry Wonda and our favorite vocal arranger Bryan-Michael Cox being called in, hopefully tasked with creating timeless classics like the one below…
….with an Urban edge of course.
