I love this song, she did a good job, this performance was very good for Beyonce at a time when Mariah was around. Otherwise considering the time Beyonce’s Dangerously in Love was around, there was Christina at her best, Alicia Off-Keys could actually hit notes and Mariah could let it rip, so Beyonce was an average singer taking into consideration the time slot she was at.
In fact the DIL era is the only era Beyonce was actually likable, look at her body, she is skinny and beautiful, she wasn’t believing her own hype and was somewhat original. If you compare that to B’Day and so forth, she was arrogant, detestable, egoistic and a thief.
Anyway the proof is in the numbers, DIL is when people actually loved Beyonce because it was when she was actually an artist, everything past that has been a faux.
Interestingly, Beyonce’s album sales have declined with each release. ‘Dangerously in Love’ sold 4.9 million, ‘B’Day’ sold 3.3 million, ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ sold 3 million and ’4′ sold 1.3 million.
Unfortunately Beyonce is the cheerleader of her own hype machine, a hype the music buying public clearly isn’t buying. But hey, she can still give The Beyonce Experience on tour 100x, her sheep will buy the tickets.

Album sales in general are declining. Plus Beyoncé started off so big that even a decline in sales for her is still good, especially in comparison not to her old sales but in comparison to many of her peers of today. Just look at the album sales of the other artists you named, Mariah, Christina Aguilera, and Alicia Keys…they have all declined. Does that mean people stopped liking them? It’s just the industry’s environment and the fact that they all started off so big instead of having a gradual climb upward as some other artists have done. Besides, Beyoncé is doing great in comparison to the other three. She still has a great career.

Wow! And to think back then I appreciated her talent as a wonderful vocalist who had way to many haters but I wasn’t as big of a fan as I became when B-Day was released. After that I started to go back and appreciate the older performances as a fan. She has really won me over with these great performances over the years. Beyonce started off strong from the beginning, she has always taken her vocals very seriously ever since she was a little girl and she made sure she would leave a lasting impression as a member of the group and from her very first solo project. She was destined to be a star but never took it for granted and look where she is now, the dedication to her craft paid off.
She surely deserved that standing ovation, great to see my fav Prince with such a look of appreciation on his face. She really wowed the crowd.
