The-Dream Slams Fan For Mocking His Album Sales

Published: Wednesday 26th Jun 2013 by Sam

With sales of The-Dream‘s latest album ‘IV Play’ quite the nightmare, it figures that the hitmaker would be on edge if or when questioned about it.

It’s a lesson one Twitter commenter learnt the hard way upon confronting the ‘Umbrella’ songwriter on the so-so numbers of the project – which has only sold 43,000 since release last month.

Check out the heated exchange after the jump…

Riveting.

On the one hand, it’s refreshing to see an under-performing act such as The-Dream deviate from the “script” and address his predicament so head-on. On the other, though, it’s nauseating to see how Mr Nash justified the matter in such an arrogant manner. For, despite all his (truthful) bravado, his response and the way he delivered it was soaked in insecurity.

    Flop.

    • TurnUp4Cici June 26, 2013

Like lana will be when she releases her next album.

      • Katy Kat June 26, 2013

        loooool yaaaas

      • Rosie June 26, 2013

Like Cedric will do on the charts next week.

      • FAF June 26, 2013

Even if “Cedric” sells 1 album, she has two multiplatinum albums in the vault which is more than Lana ever will have #CATCH BAYBEEEEEEE!! #JULY9 😆

      • Rosie June 26, 2013

And even then that was a decade ago when albums still sold well. Still Born To Die outsold every Cedric album worldwide. Let me know when Basic B****’s worldwide total surpasses Paradise’s US sales.

    • k June 26, 2013

ROSIE you here hatin on others, and people is draggin your fav lana on that other others post, why your b-tch @ss is over there defending her you little f-ck b-tch.

      • Rosie June 26, 2013

Going back to personal insults because you know your face is a flop. Bye.

      • MuiMui June 26, 2013

K is right this lana is a miserable soul who looks for someone to fight with on a daily.

      • MuiMui June 26, 2013

Perhaps the Dream will have a song perhaps that will do as good as he said “Umbrella” did for him.
Since he did refused to work with Ciara because his mind is stuck on being in the Beyonce game and excluding other artist.
Dream what was your biggest selling song with Beyonce and other artist that you have worked with , Sir, i am sure they made more than 15 Million for You Sir why not share that news with us.

    • TruthSpeaker June 26, 2013

Yup, FLOP. Sorry Dream, you don’t create classics. You create flopsics! Whats the last classic song your created? Umbrella? Can’t tell you the last time that song got played on my m** player but other real CLASSICS still get heavy rotation so yea. Arrogant b******, FLOP your ass back to that seat thats about to get repossed after you file bankruptcy. BTW, stop adding your vocals to music you produce for other artists. NO ONE IS LISTENING FOR YOUR AUTOTUNED MARIAH SCAREY WHISPERING VOICE! NO ONE! You ruined that Kelly Ro song on her album for me. Woulda been great but nope; dream had to add his p**** ass voice to the track…..

  2. TurnUp4Cici June 26, 2013

Thats what he gets for tryna throw shade at Keyshia tbh. No one checking for him as an artist i bet he won’t make another album after this he might drop a mixtape tho 🙂

    • ARIANA’S ANGEL June 26, 2013

      Says the Ci-Error stan

    • Music June 27, 2013

      B**** plz. F*** Keyshia and f*** you tbh…

  3. Navy Sailor June 26, 2013

Booooyyyy we ALL know that people like you and Will I Am don’t HAVE to make music because you’ll be filthy rich regardless….but honestly, who really WANTS to flop that badly? You can give me the whole “I do it for the love of music” shtick, but at the end of the day it’s disappointing. All of that hard work, and you only sell 20k in the first week, and 40k altogether?????

    • FAF June 26, 2013

But what he’s saying makes sense, though. The money is in the writing credits. Publishing = $$$$ > Having to sing songs u didn’t write, they go to #1 but you OWN nothing !

  4. Unbiased H** June 26, 2013

    -sings rihanna’s SOS-

  5. Spunkypooop June 26, 2013

Producers and writers come in and out of style like a fresh pair of kicks. Have a seat Dream.

    • Music June 27, 2013

      LOL

  6. Ernest June 26, 2013

All that for what?! Except your flop album and move on with your life.

  7. Ernest June 26, 2013

    *accept

  8. Katy Kat June 26, 2013

Lol … He is upset he flopped you don’t see Ciara & Christina cussing out fans because they flopped trust me these girls receive more hell when they flop than these dudes so dream you f****** queen you just showed that the album flopping has got to yu

    • MuiMui June 26, 2013

      KATY KAT TRUE

  9. Mark111 June 26, 2013

I knew he would say along the line of “I don’t care, I’m rich.” But he has a point, he writes most of the hits on the radio cause for one, it’s a singles age, plus the radio spins, plus the money up front, he doesn’t have to sell albums at the end of the day, same for WillIam. People need to learn the bizz, labels didn;t give him this huge budget and huge promo loan that he has to pay back, so since he written and produced the album, the lil 40k he sold, most goes back to him and his team. There’s so many artist that sells like crazy, but take very little at the end of the day, and we’re in a 360 deal age, so all these new singers and rappers arn’t making near as much as they should if they don’t own their publishing. But he’s still a lame tho, lol.

    • Katy Kat June 26, 2013

its a singles age yet his own singles have flopped

      • Mark111 June 26, 2013

Cleary you didn’t read what I said. He writes (well wrote, cause I can’t think of any current songs that’s hot that he wrote) some of the biggest song, not best, but biggest. But I can’t even hate on you, Katy writes her own s*** too, so all those #1’s = cash in her pocket… if she owns her publishing. Rihanna needs to pull a Beyonce and start putting her name on those hits!

  10. JARED (WHITE DUDE) June 26, 2013

    L*M*F*A*O

To prove that he truly did not care, he could have just responded once or not at all…

The multiple tweets just confirmed his insecurities.

    Oh well…

    *Plays “Single Ladies”*

    • MuiMui June 26, 2013

JARED correct they have got these double standard for some and different for others he wished he could have did West numbers and hes a ball faced liar if he says differently and i
      am reading,

MARK111 AGREENING THAT HE DON’T HAVE TO SALE AND I SAY B/S EVERYBODY WANTS A HIT AND SALES,
Theres always some artist trying to justify why they did not sale big if they did not want a winning album then they would not have made that album.
And since hes such a great WRITER, PRODUCER WHY ISN’T HIS A^S ON THAT FORBES LIST.

      • Mark111 June 26, 2013

Hahaha, yea @Muimui, ya know when someone is upset when they have to bring up how much money they make. You never heard Jay Z or even Diddy say “Yea, my album flopped, but I still got money.” When you’re winning, there’s no need to brag, lol. I’m not feeling Dream cause for from what he says, he doesn’t care for the music, he’s one of the reason why R&B is dead with his wack ass songs.

  11. Molly June 26, 2013

If he didn’t care he wouldn’t have responded lol…. simple as that.

    • MuiMui June 26, 2013

      Thanks you Molly.

    • Music June 27, 2013

Or like Jared said he would have responded once and moved on.

  12. Cali June 26, 2013

Such an arrogant man…and that’s his true color doh!

  13. Woman To Woman June 26, 2013

Woman to Woman first week sales 96k

Talk a good game first week sales 65k

the dream album 43k after a month

& those two had the nerve to shade Keyshia after she called bey out yet she outsells them two………

    • Navy Sailor June 26, 2013

Even Ciara outsold him, and he shaded her like none other.

    • Mark111 June 26, 2013

Y;all do know that first weeks sales is just that… the sales on the first week. Woman to woman only sold 329K as of this month, so she’s nothing to rage about. Side note, Unapologetic was released the same week as Woman To Woman, but some call Rihanna a flop as well, even after selling a million ever year.

      • damn June 26, 2013

rihana is not an rnb artists. Keep it 100% you need to com pare like with like, and rihana is not a flop by any standards

      • MuiMui June 26, 2013

They can call rihanna a flop all they want to just ask forbes where do the Dream place on their list.
MARK111 Just like you say some do call rihanna a flop but that is a lie and we all know that , Right?

  14. Ugh June 26, 2013

Keyshia Cole outsold him. And he has no current hits on the radio. “Umbrella” was in 2007 and “Single Ladies” was in 2008. You stans stay living on past glory lol

    • JP June 27, 2013

This. Aint no denying that he got money for days, but it doesn’t change the facts. His fans and him are both living on his past glory.

  15. POP ROYALTY [RUDE BOY] June 26, 2013

nothing better than watching insecure b****** caught up in their feelings. 😆

  16. Bey Fan June 26, 2013

Not to bring of Bey….but I wish more artist would take the Bey approach… just dont respond or entertain people.

The Dream has never been been an album seller… i dont know why anyone would be surprised

  17. Bey Fan June 26, 2013

All he said was that he could not work with Keyshia at the current moment. It aint like he said she couldn’t sing, or that she couldn’t sell.

And the Dream has a solid point. But it was a point that didn’t need be tweeted. He seemed insecure. But has no reason to be.

  18. MuiMui June 26, 2013

How do all of these so called Ballers let a Talentless artist beat them on the charts in the first place cough*.

  19. Lovebird June 26, 2013

I hope dream knows that producers and writers come and go like an old pair of sneakers. One time they’re hot, next they’re stale, ask red one.

And if he doesn’t care. why cuss out a fan who is stating facts? Dream is getting as big headed as NeYo, they should be scared s*** because Elijah Blake is taking their spot.

  20. Beyond Amazing June 26, 2013

Look here Dream, your a flop so move on. No need to get mad, dude just stated the facts. Nobody checking for your singing voice, you sound like a teenage boy who hasn’t hit puberty yet. #The truth hurts. #Sorry not sorry.

  21. Troybenz June 27, 2013

    His album is the s***

i just dont love the bonus tracks phyco, roc divine and all those others but other then that the album is ok i think people should focus on real music now on people that they hear on the radio all the time i want him and kelly rowland to be number one for once they deserve it

  22. Music June 27, 2013

Who gives a f*** honestly. His s*** aint goin in my bank account. Ordinary people like us with ordinary jobs could only DREAM of being overpaid like some of these cocky ass musicians (I use that term loosely) in the business.

  23. JP June 27, 2013

F*** his big fat ugly super stupid ass lls. I actually like his music but I just can’t support him…everything about him outside of his music is corny, obnoxious and disingenuous. I’m surprised he didn’t sell more the way he kisses the ass in the industry. f****** clown.
