According to a number of industry sources working on the back end of the release, the Rick Rubin led project is set to sell over 500,00 units in its first week of release…claiming the #1 spot and landing the Rapper his sixth #1.
Set to come in at #2 is J.Cole‘s ‘Born Sinner’ with anywhere between 150,000 to 200,000 units sold, matching but failing to significantly surpass the debut of 2011’s ‘Cole World’- which hit the Billboard 200 with 218,000 copies.
If ‘Sinner’ surpasses first week digits of 100k, it will mark the first time two Rap albums would have done so within the same week since November 2010- when West’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ debuted with 496,000 units and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday’ came in with 375,000 units.
The latter, going onto move a further 660,000 copies in its first month of release bringing its US sales figure to 1,035,000 after four weeks.
West’s inevitable chart reign comes after numerous reports indicated a forthcoming collaboration between himself, U2‘s ‘Bono’ and Elijah Blake, allegedly set for release before the year’s end.
