Kendall J. Powell‘s ‘Cheerios’ calls on Rapper Nelly to serve as its new brand ambassador this year, marking his latest move to boost his visibility before the release of his brand new album!
Enlisting the star to front their ‘Must Be The Honey’ Honey Nut Cheerios campaign, the General Mills owned brand has kicked off a mass media initiative that will see Nelly rock digital ads, billboards and a social media driven effort to push the cereal…and his own new LP, ‘M.O‘.
Today, one of the first fruits of the deal’s labour was plucked with the release of a short ad directed by Hype Williams, featuring the ‘Get Like Me’ MC and the swagged out ‘Homebee’.

With only a select number of Urban acts able to generate interest without deals like these, it’s great to see Camp Nelly think up unique ways to push his cause to the masses.
Indeed, by aligning himself with an established and trusted household product, Nelly does wonders for his own positioning and hopefully see ‘M.O’ move more units than it would have done without this.
With this in mind, here’s hoping R&B’s leading ladies take note.
For, with so many- if not all of them- celebrated for their personal styles, it’s a wonder none of them have hooked up with the likes of SoftSheen-Carson to force themselves into the homes of the very people they depend on to pick up their albums come release week.
Think about it?
What better way is there to reach one’s audience if not by reaching them via their everyday goods.
