It’s a good amount of records sold, and it matches the unbelievable push she got this time around. Ultimately Katy’s success isn’t as tied to record sales as some other artists, but a ‘good’ showing like this only bodes well for her career.
They did what they could to secure it, and it worked! Here’s hoping the album sells in the long run.
While everyone is making fun of Lady Gaga’s singles (they haven’t been very good), she’s probably still going to sell at least 500k in her first week.
Given the mammoth success of ‘Roar’, those first week sales predictions are underwhelming. It only persuades the fact that she is a ‘singles’ artist and nothing more. The entire album is what can only be defined as ‘basic’. Each song is simple, generic and tasteless – no substance what so ever. Don’t get me wrong, the tracks are okay…but very ‘kiddy pop’. GaGa should eat those figures up…but time will tell.
Have you heard the album??? I’m no Katy fan at all, but ‘ kiddy pop’…….I don’t care for the album but i find a vast majority of the songs to be very “inspirational” and mature…..not my style and i don’t see a lot of typical ” katy perry” type songs on it.

I’m not comparing Prism’s projected sales to any album that was released more than four years ago. The market has changed.
I think KP is projected to do really well. Her main fan base is mostly young, and unless you’re selling to the 30+ and/or country demographics, you’re not going to sell large numbers of CDs.
