Having rocked iTunes, Lady GaGa‘s latest single ‘Do What U Want’ has made a bodacious beeline for the Billboard Hot 100.
The dance-floor jam, which features R&B crooner R. Kelly, has not only rocketed into the upper echelon of the iconic tally, it’s earned the week’s highest honor in the process.
Details after the jump…
According to the ever-reliable Chart News, ‘Do What U Want’ will serve as the week’s highest debut entry, landing at #13, when this week’s chart is uncovered.
Last week’s published table, saw predecessor ‘Applause’ hold firm at #9 – some two months after release. A fact notable for many reasons, the most prominent being that the staying power of the ‘ARTPOP’ lead release juxtaposed with the strong start of its follow-up could plausibly see two GaGa singles sit within the top ten in the weeks ahead.
Indeed, should ‘Do’ continue to ascend (which is very likely once it “officially” goes for adds at radio next week), the worse case scenario would see the track replace ‘Applause’ in the top ten. Bringing to an end an incredibly impressive top ten run for a song (a Platinum one at that) that many were so keen to write off.
Needless to say, it’s GaGa season! ‘ARTPOP’ lands November 11th.
