Lady GaGa Storms Billboard Hot 100 With ‘Do What U Want’

Published: Wednesday 30th Oct 2013 by Sam

Having rocked iTunes, Lady GaGa‘s latest single ‘Do What U Want’ has made a bodacious beeline for the Billboard Hot 100.

The dance-floor jam, which features R&B crooner R. Kelly, has not only rocketed into the upper echelon of the iconic tally, it’s earned the week’s highest honor in the process.

Details after the jump…

According to the ever-reliable Chart News, ‘Do What U Want’ will serve as the week’s highest debut entry, landing at #13, when this week’s chart is uncovered.

Last week’s published table, saw predecessor ‘Applause’ hold firm at #9 – some two months after release. A fact notable for many reasons, the most prominent being that the staying power of the ‘ARTPOP’ lead release juxtaposed with the strong start of its follow-up could plausibly see two GaGa singles sit within the top ten in the weeks ahead.

Indeed, should ‘Do’ continue to ascend (which is very likely once it “officially” goes for adds at radio next week), the worse case scenario would see the track replace ‘Applause’ in the top ten. Bringing to an end an incredibly impressive top ten run for a song (a Platinum one at that) that many were so keen to write off.

Needless to say, it’s GaGa season! ‘ARTPOP’ lands November 11th.

    • Dreamlover October 30, 2013

Molly I feel like we agree on so much! Also we always seem to comment around the same time. Could we be TGJ soulmates?
      *mwah*

      • Molly October 30, 2013

Awww how sweet<3 & just maybe mwaaaah!!!

  4. Dreamlover October 30, 2013

She actually is looking decent this era. I wish I could say the same for the music. I still like this song, so good for her. I’m interested to see how it’ll fare in the coming weeks on the charts once airplay and streaming get added into the mix (since it’s plummeting down the iTunes charts as we speak). I still think she’ll forever struggle to regain the fame and critical appeal she achieved during the Fame Monster era. And her cocky attitude pisses me off. Congrats anyway 🙂

    • JOHNVIDAL October 31, 2013

Since when did Gaga have more critical appeal during The Fame era than the Bron this Way era??? Born This Way was one of the nominees for Album of the Year at the grammys for example.

  5. FreeBreezy October 30, 2013

TGJ was “keen to write off” applause now yall flip flopin more than a miami hooker.
    Congrats Gaga and R kellz

    • Molly October 30, 2013

Free breezy? From what rehab which is much needed for him.

  6. christinastherealtalent October 30, 2013

Storms? LMAO this site never seizes to give me a good laugh. Even more funnier they still have yet to mention how fast it dropped down on itunes.

  7. HOTSTUFF October 30, 2013

Aollause is only in the top ten because 1) She’s signed to Interscope 2) it’s heavily played on the radio because she’s signed to interscope.

    • truth(the new and refined TRUTH. f*** icki she done now i just slay a b****…yew mad??) October 30, 2013

      h** hush!!! applause is EVERYTHING!!!!

      • HOTSTUFF October 30, 2013

well it’s an INTERNATIONAL FLOP. it ‘s no where to be found outside of the US. it’s probably hiding under a lace-front wig in the Mrs carter world tour lmao.

  8. HOTSTUFF October 30, 2013

i remember little morons saying that Diamond & Stay were generic blablabla but yet these fools are acting as if ‘Do what you want’ was sent from heaven by the angels of music. #DelusionalFlopStans

    • Molly October 30, 2013

Stay is pretty basic sis, diamonds is still my s*** tho.. Do what you want is Gaga best track I’ve heard so far the rest are just a mess.

      • HOTSTUFF October 30, 2013

tell me that her best track is Edge Of glory or Bad romance but not that repetitive s*** ‘do what you want’, the beat is a sample and all she does with R kelly is repeat ‘ do what u want…’ a hundred times . WoW how great.

      • Molly October 30, 2013

B**** im just saying its the most decent song on Artpop that ive heard so far defiantly not her best song of all time.

      • HOTSTUFF October 30, 2013

        ok b****, it’s trash.

    • Stop the drama Start the music October 30, 2013

DWUW is radio friendly and that’s y ppl like it more. Gaga ain’t making GP friendly music this year that’s y ppl arnt eating her other music up on the charts.

      • Lovebird (Britney Jean – 03.12.13) October 30, 2013

What do you call applause? You’re full of excuses.

      • Stop the drama Start the music October 31, 2013

Applause and DWUW are the most radio friendly. The rest don’t seem like it…

  9. TS October 30, 2013

Sam damn! “Lady Gaga”, not “Lady GaGa”!!!

  10. HOTSTUFF October 30, 2013

Gag and her team can manipulate all what they want along with the endless pretending that greatness (musically & artistically) is among us by the little morons BUT one can’t deny the FACT that Do what you want & venus are sinking faster on itunes than the Titanic in the Atlantic ocean. #DEAL

    • GAGARULES October 30, 2013

LOL BUT WHAT’S WHAT NOW DOING? LMAO

      • HOTSTUFF October 30, 2013

what now is coming to slay heaux !!!!! 3rd single !!! 89 on itunes US !! no promo, no running around naked like an idiot in the forest, no video ! yasss can’t wait #WHATNOW

      • Stop the drama Start the music October 30, 2013

Lol at u. 89 is still a flop with no promo considering it’s Rihanna we’re talking about and if its on radio and its been performed at least once that’s a pretty big flop.

  11. truth(the new and refined TRUTH. f*** icki she done now i just slay a b****…yew mad??) October 30, 2013

SHE SLAYN FUNKYPERRY HAHAHAHAHAHAHA kiiii chile!!! #puffs blunt and listens to ‘Do..” honey

  12. FutureCIARA October 30, 2013

  13. mc the place to be! October 30, 2013

sam post how rihanna tour gross is over 100 million!!!

  14. Starships October 30, 2013

I like Do what u want, much better than Applause

  15. Navy Nick October 30, 2013

I like both, they are VERY different songs in 2 different lanes, and VENUS just made it even better : THIS ALBUM IS GOIGN TO BE AMAZING!!!! who cares what singles do, ultimately the album sales & SOLD OUT TOURS are what matter!!

    • JOHNVIDAL October 31, 2013

I can´t wait! I´ve loved all the songs. Even Venus, which is my least favorite, can be enjoyable cos of her vocals in the last two choruses.

  16. Common Sense October 30, 2013

I’m sure that storm will turn into nothing but a little drizzle.

  17. Stop the drama Start the music October 30, 2013

Do what you want deserves at least a top 5 on billboard when it starts to get more radio rotation. Also, many are saying Artpop is already predicted to sell at least 350-400k 1st week. Not official but it’s speculation. I’m definitely getting my copy tho.

  18. Forgive Rihanan, lord, so I can stan for her again October 30, 2013

    Sam,

Rih’s tour number have come out. SHE ONLY DONE 10 MILL. TEEE HEEE, OH NO, HER TOUR FLOPPED.

  19. THE GREAT LACEFRONCE. October 30, 2013

Only because of HYPE. Still won’t get a #1 single and it will tumble back to the bottom of the charts in coming weeks similar to the way Born to FLOP did 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 :):) 🙂 🙂

    • Stop the drama Start the music October 30, 2013

You should know Gaga isn’t a singles artist considering she only has 3 number 1 hits in her entire career. Bad Romance was a big international hit for Gaga but it didn’t reach number 1.

  20. lol October 30, 2013

    generic trash with shallow lyrics.

  21. Xtina stan October 30, 2013

Only because it debuted with 165k sold. It’ll drop out of the top 20 next week 🙂

  22. Stop the drama Start the music October 30, 2013

Good for her. Applause and DWUW deserve the most success on the charts. They r really catchy and the best from Artpop so far.

    • Xtina stan October 30, 2013

      And ur delusional

    • *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* October 30, 2013

      not “Applause”, I’m so sorry.

  23. JER October 30, 2013

So it didn’t make the Top 10. Oh.I thought songs that freefall from the Hot 100 are supposed to debut higher than that.

  24. BeyIsKing October 30, 2013

How people call Applause a flop when it has been in the Top 10 since it’s release I will never know.

    • Xtina stan October 30, 2013

Call a spade a spade and a flop a flop. What impact has it made?

      • BeyIsKing October 30, 2013

The fact that it has been in the Top 10 for two months. Do we only consider #1 singles as successful?

      • Katybaby October 30, 2013

        FLOP

  25. Katybaby October 30, 2013

    UGLY FLOP MAN

  26. Lovebird (Britney Jean – 03.12.13) October 30, 2013

  28. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* October 30, 2013

I Love This Song So Much and I’m Ecstatic That It is Doing So Well. 😀

I love it When the Song I truly Love gets Love from the GP.

    10/10 As I Said.

Now all I need is a Music Video As Good As The Song.

  29. Lovebird (Britney Jean – 03.12.13) October 30, 2013

Anyway, in much more relevant news, RIHANNA 100% SOLD OUT Twickenham (twice), Stade De France, Aviva, Stadium of light, Millennium, Turkish Stadium, Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Not bad for a singles artist on a flop tour ey.

  30. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* October 30, 2013

    so Far for Me:

    Artpop > DWYW > Swine > Sexxx Dreams > Aura > Venus > Mary J holland > Manicure > G.U.Y > Applause > J & D > gypsy > Dope

    Phew!!! 😀

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 30, 2013

      Yassss-stan for ARTPOP!

You got your pre-order in? 🙂

      • *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* October 30, 2013

        Yup!!!! 😉

    • JOHNVIDAL October 31, 2013

Sexx Dreams does it for me! Ever since I listened to it in that concert… perfect pop song. But Do what you want is probably even better. Those two are my favorites. But I´ve liked all of the songs so far (except for Venus maybe). Even if some of them are a bit difficult at first. More basic material is more instant, but true artists show their artistry this way for the most part.

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 31, 2013

I cannot wait for Sexxx Dreams!!! & you know I didn’t love Venus right away but it has really grown on me in the past few days. Wasn’t instant like ‘DWUW’ but I’ve finally seen the light.

Now I’m struggling with that “Mary Jane Holland” snippet! LOL!

      • JOHNVIDAL November 1, 2013

Really??? No I really like that Mary Jane Holland snippet. her vocals are great in it. And yes Venus grows on you, well the last part of the song I loved it at first listen anyway.

  31. Lovebird (Britney Jean – 03.12.13) October 30, 2013

$97 million with only North American and EU dates tallied.

I just want to RIHpeat, Twickenham 100% SOLD OUT TWICE and Stare De France 100% SOLD OUT.

  32. Drew October 30, 2013

Do what you want is catchy! Good for her!

  33. ratedxxx(bad chick) October 30, 2013

I’m sorry as a huge Gaga fanatic, every time I heard do what you want, all I can think about is xtinas “your body”

and her voice is giving me xtina’s vibe….xtina is a beast when it comes to vocals…I stan hard for xtina’s vocals..

don’t get me wrong, I like the song, but why is r kelly doing on there…I expect maybe justin timberlake, or robin ticke..the song would have been hotter…

  34. ratedxxx(bad chick) October 30, 2013

charts don’t mean s*** to me anymore…my thing is this people bragging about who’s number 1….i’m over that s***..because being number 1 doesnt automatically means your album is great..

s*** look at gaga’s born this way…I hate that album with a passion, and yet it went number one on every charts, also came in second to Adele….

even adele’s album 21 was garbage to me..19 was a much better album…

and the last rihanna album that I actually listen to the whole album, was actually rated r…don’t get me wrong, on her other new albums, I like some of the songs..but couldnt listen to the whole thing

  35. Venus October 30, 2013

    Where is unconditionally though?

  36. Blue October 30, 2013

    Lovebird DWT did over 100mil
    68mil Europ + 35mil North America. 100% sold out
