You always go on about Rita ora or ciara needing more promo to make it the usa, but this girl has no promo; she came out of nowhere, with no hype name dropping or image and SHE HAS GONE TO NUMBER 1. RITA ORA SONE INTENSE LEVEL OF PROMO: Ryan seacrest, Rob Kardashian( she dated him for fame) Letterman, GMA, KIMMEL, GQUSA, Glamour, t*** vogue, made in america, Z100 with jayz, Hot 97, etc and yet she could not break into the top 60 or drop an album.
Even A list beyonce is struggling with promo, as it does not work in the internet age we live in.

let the local thing go boo. if you didnt feel she was competition for lana then you wouldnt be hating. lana has done fantastic internationally, yet she still hasn’t had a top 5 on the hot 100 and whatever you have to say about english speaking vs non english speaking markets thats still a big deal. and lorde has done that on the strength of word of mouth. i used to work radio/video promo for major labels (had budgets for beyonce, gnarls barkley, and bon jovi singles to name a few)right out of college and her single was a true slow burn word of mouth success. that doesn’t happen often.
personally i think they occupy different lanes. theyre both great. do you shade her just because she gets compared to the chick you stan for? which by the way i think is ridiculous. they both have a smokey vocal tone. thats where the parallels die in my mind.

Haha @ Locals being a word of mouth success. Literally no one was talking about her until her song went #1 on US Alternative and her label began hyping her up as the “Queen of Alternative.” I literally never heard of her until August when every other music website interviewed/did an article about her as if she is the savior of pop music. She’s not, the same thing happened to Gotye and what was his next hit? But at least his one song was more global than most of our faves. 12th biggest song of all time, I think, but it’s top 15 for sure on Mediatraffic.
I’m not pressed at all, if Borde really was a threat to Lana then her song would be top 5 in more than 4 English speaking countries. Pure Heroine won’t even do 250k worldwide first week, and it sure as hell won’t outsell any major pop girl’s last album.
