Jennifer Hudson: ‘I Didn’t Know What An Oscar Was’

With a career that’s seen her celebrated for the skill she possesses on stage and on screen, Jennifer Hudson remains one of Hollywood‘s most sought after entertainers…years after rising to fame on FOX’s ‘American Idol.’

Now, as she celebrates the arrival of her new movie ‘Black Nativity’, the ‘Angel’ performer has spoken to  Net-A-Porter‘s ‘The Edit’, dishing on her career thus far, her relationship with Beyonce, and revealing that she did not know what an ‘Oscar’ was until she joined the cast of 2006’s ‘Dreamgirls’.

    Yeah, Jennifer Hudson’s music is awful.., Spotlight remains the best song she has put out so far. I love her voice and believe she is one of the best singers currently in the game, she is Amazing but her material is lackluster to say the least, she simply doesn’t have ‘a sound’ of her own yet and it’s what is keeping her in generic territory. If her material improves she could become a massive and more credible star.

    Proof she’s trash. And it’s sad that she won an Oscar for basically singing a good rendition of “And I Am Telling You.” Lord knows it wasn’t her acting ability, of which there is none. Her only technique was doing the black girl “moving my neck back and forth” thing.
