As an act who rose to fame by way of the tool, Lady GaGa is all too familiar with the part the internet plays in crafting and sharing ideas, and introducing the world to the artists behind them.
However, in a new interview given to Berlin’s ‘ProSieben‘, the vocalist has weighed in on the negative impact the advent of photo sharing outlets like Instagram has had on the world art…or at least Joe Public’s perception of what it truly means to be an artist.
Indeed, while the Grammy winner doesn’t knock its impact, she does explain why the attention many of its staples receive from the images they share can never truly compare to the passion and discipline it takes to create material that does more than score ‘Likes’, ‘Followers’ and ‘Fans’.

Lady Gaga continues her 2nd-rate Madonna clone act with a handful of songs on the album. “Fashion” sounds eerily similar to “Holiday,” while “Venus” copies the same vocal inflections of many of Madonna’s biggest hits. In “S** Dreams,” Gaga’s unsexy spoken parts are trying (but failing) to coo the listeners as Madonna’s s*** spoken vocals did with “Justify My Love.”
When Gaga isn’t trying to imitate Madonna, she is trying to emulate David Bowie. She uses the Bowie-inflicted accent on the semi-flop “Applause,” and even evokes some of his style in “Manicure” and “Venus.” On “Swine,” she is in full Joan Jett mode until the EDM beat kicks in. Then, she sounds like P!nk. In fact, the whole ARTPOP album sounds like a kitchen-sink reference to other artists.
