With the ‘Lotus’ era now well and truly over, and the singer behind it now eyeing creative pastures new, there’s no doubt fans of Christina Aguilera desperately await confirmation of a new LP from the revered vocalist.
Luckily for them, today saw the singer confirm that she is working on new material, though it isn’t her own. For, in doing her part to support fresh and deserving talent, she has lent her voice to Great Big World‘s cut ‘Say Something‘, and has shared footage of her recording her portion of the number in a clip that awaits you below!
Side note: Seemingly more eager than ever to push new material, we can’t help but hope the success of Emeli Sande‘s ‘Our Version of Events‘ sees Christina call on its producer Naughty Boy, renown for creating the kind of radio friendly Adult Contemporary cuts Aguilera’s discography could do with next year!
For, while some have been far too quick to write her off as a joke, we’d say it’s Christina who’ll have the last laugh when she decides to up her promotional ante and give her new album the push she refused to give ‘Lotus‘.
An album, whose Adult Contemporary hits did far more her than the likes of ‘Your Body‘ or ‘Let There Be Love’ did.

Christina should definately go the Adult Contemporary route with her music. Commercial pop music isn’t for her. Lotus sounded hollow and soulless, I want something more alive and organic. At this point, she has nothing to prove.
