Beyonce rocked the music industry moments ago with the release of her fifth studio album – ‘Beyonce’. Yes, you read right…the release!

Billed as a ‘Visual Album’, the 14-track set is available on iTunes now – along with 17 videos!

“The self-titled set is the artist’s first visual album. BEYONCÉ is infused with 14 new songs and 17 visually stunning, provocative videos shot around the world from Houston toNew York City to Paris, and Sydney to Rio de Janeiro, all before the album’s release.
“I see music,” says Beyoncé about her decision to create a visual album. “It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.”
That the album is available on the day the world is learning about its release is an unprecedented strategic move by the artist to deliver music and visual content directly to her fans when she wants to and how she wants to, with no filter. This unique approach allows music fans to be the first to listen, view, engage and form their own opinions void of any middleman. In the age of social media and an insatiable appetite for direct communication, this is the answer to the question asked over and over again, when is Beyoncé’s next album coming?
“I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it,” she states. “I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”

In October and November, the tour traveled Down Under to play six arenas in Australia and New Zealand, wrapping on Nov. 9 in Perth. The four-night stand (Oct. 31-Nov. 3) was the arena’s highest-grossing concert engagement this year, topping box office revenue from multiple performances by P!nk, Bruce Springsteen and One Direction, among others.

I’m sorry but these songs are just too bland even for Beyonce’s standards. It kind of reminds me of “4” only worse. At least with “4” it was lyrically and vocally solid even though the sound was very dated. This album is just a mess all around with the lyrics, vocals, and sound. The lyrics are very basic, the sound is just a random mess, even her vocals are not up to par like they usually are. However, I will say that at least she tried something new so congrats on that.

It’s still too early to judge what the set will do over the full three days left in the sales tracking week (which ends Sunday night), but with prior projected leader, “Blame It All On My Roots: Five Decades Of Influences” by Garth Brooks, estimated to shift 150,000-160,000 units, Beyoncé is already halfway that sum. And in the time it would take someone to fly from New York to Miami.
The album release was so heavily guarded, that reportedly only a dozen or so members of her Sony Records family even were aware of the set being pushed to iTunes yesterday evening.
Beyoncé’s last studio set “4” sold 310,000 in its debut week in July of 2011, but that was with a full sales week and a marketing/media push leading up to the release. It is an interesting commentary on the influence of social media in today’s world if “Beyoncé” can come close to that sum with just social buzz driving the project instead of weeks of traditional media promotion normally part of the album release playbook.

I’m sorry but I have to agree with you. They’re overhyping this album. She has matured a bit music wise, but I just can’t quite get into this album. You have to remember that there are a lot of B stans and undercover stans on this so of course they find this album “stellar”. I like a few songs on the albums but the rest sound like ghetto filler music. She cannot afford to flop this era and I’m a GP music buyer so I’m not sure if people will want to go out and buy this album but we’ll have to wait and see, but she’ll be lucky to go double platinum. Gags hasn’t seen platinum yet I can guarantee lol.

For Beyoncé fans who happened to be awake in the wee hours of Friday the 13th, Christmas came early this year–in the form of a surprise album by the superstar singer.
The self-titled visual album was released exclusively via iTunes as a complete download for $15.99; individual songs will be available starting December 20th. The list of collaborators on Beyoncé features a who’s-who of the music business, including Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Drake, Timbaland, Frank Ocean, Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland and, of course, Jay Z.
With so many high-profile names attached to the project, it’s a small miracle that nothing leaked in advance of the launch, but Beyoncé runs a tight ship.
“I’m never satisfied,” she told FORBES in a 2009 cover story, adding: “I’m sure sometimes it’s not easy working for me … I’ve never met anyone that works harder than me in my industry.”
Indeed, she’s already played 97 shows on her Mrs. Carter World Tour this year–and, in combination with the buzz for her new album, that could catapult her to the most lucrative year of her already storied career. FORBES calculates earnings on the half-year, meaning that the scoring period for 2014 will run from June 2013 to June 2014.
Beyoncé is already scheduled for 83 shows during that span, and that’s not counting additional bookings that could fill up April and May. She’s currently grossing over $2 million per city, according to Pollstar. Factoring in merchandise sales at her sold-out shows, that means she’s likely taking home somewhere around $1 million per night–if not more–before paying out agents, managers and Uncle Sam.
Those sorts of touring numbers alone should be enough to equal Beyoncé’s best years to date, her twin peaks of $87 million in both 2009 and 2010. Factor in endorsements with Pepsi and H&M, in addition to her other ventures and record sales, and she should easily double the $53 million she made this year. She’ll also challenge for music’s earnings crown, which went to Madonna at $125 million for 2013.
As for the new album, it’s too early for sales numbers. But there’s at least one indicator that points to success: in 12 hours, Beyoncé has already garnered half as many reviews on iTunes as Katy Perry’s PRISM and one-third as many as Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP. Both albums sold about a quarter of a million copies in their opening weeks.
Furthermore, Beyoncé’s strategy of selling her album as a whole for the first week–rather than allowing fans to buy songs a la carte–could prove incredibly valuable. Before the digital revolution in music, that was the status quo, and it led to platinum opening weeks for scores of artists who’d now be lucky to sell a third of that over the life of an entire album.
Her idea also hearkens back to the example of another top-earning superstar: Michael Jackson. In a video explaining why she decided to release a video for every song on her album, Beyoncé recalls watching the short film for “Thriller” with her family and being inspired.

Wow ok TGJ has not been working for me for the last 3 or 4 days so let me tell you I knew this sudden release was happening but I´ve not left one single comment or watched any single video or heard any single song. So I don´t know if the album is even good. And everybody knows I´m not into Beyonce.
But let me tell you: she SLAYED. Firstly this was the best imaginable way to release this album at this point of her career. She was needing something truly different.
