It may be days away from earning its first US chart position, but tonight has brought with the British chart debut of Britney Spears’ latest album ‘Britney Jean.’
So…did it sink or swim?

In its opening week, ‘Jean’ finds itself placed at #34, reaching the spot without a single live performance televised in its support or a smash hit lead single…with ‘Work B*tch’ peaking at #7 in the market.
Unfortunately, in what’s telling of the general public’s perception of the project, the album’s opening numbers find themselves paling into comparisons to the fourth week digits scored by Lady GaGa‘s ‘ARTPOP.‘
On a singles tip, the aforementioned ‘Work‘ spends its fifth week at #77, twenty spots higher than the position it held last week, while GaGa‘s ‘Do What U Want’ rises one spot up to #1o- one month after its R.Kelly assisted arrival.
Elsewhere, Rihanna’s ‘What Now’ belts its way to #1 this week- speeding its way to #25 after spending last week #39, now placed one place beneath Katy Perry‘s ‘Roar’ and eleven spots beneath Mariah Carey‘s ‘Christmas’ classic, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.‘
Though a Top 40 debut ticks the ‘decent’ box considering the album’s lack of physical promo, wouldn’t it have been great to see ‘Jean’ claim the #1 spot…a chart position no Britney era should go without?
Alas, by way of material that failed to live up to her ‘icon’ status, the album finds itself being outsold by LPs released weeks ago, giving fans no choice but to accept a swift Top 40 exit come next week.
Pretty sad…as all of ‘this’ could have been avoided had ‘Britney’ been armed with cuts strong enough to ‘sell themselves.’

But he DID promote. She did 2 talk shows in the UK.

Even CELINE DION debuted at #3 on the UK Album Charts with (the by the way amazing) Loved Me Back to Life album and we all know that she was never ever that succesful and loved there and not even had a hit single in the past 15 years there.

Celine Dion debuted at #3 in the UK and sold pretty well for not caring at all and dissapearing for 6 years between albums. Not to mention, how much better Celine is still doing in Vegas in her 10th year there than Britney Spears in her first year there LOL (only one thing, Celine has sold huge way everywhere throughout her career, including the UK).
Also, Gaga slayed that performance of Manicure vocally. Hadn´t seen it before.
The album is absolutely atrocious. Literally, the WORST album she has ever produced.

Seriously, Britney stans are the most delusional on earth. They actually BRAG about her lack of vocal ability and her inability to successful complete an 8 count; they praise her arm dancing and her lackluster performance skills; her refusal to promote her terrible music is commended. It’s sheer absurdity.
They wear all of this as a badge of honor. Then if you question their absurdity, they cling to her diamond albums from the 90s that sold during the worst bubblegum drenched era in pop music as a defense.
