No more than a year since the release of her latest LP ‘Ciara‘, the Grammy winning entertainer revealed:
“I’m in the process of making my new album. My inspiration is life and reality. It’s important to express myself musically. I am so connected to who I am now, and I now I want to share pieces of myself with the world.”
Fantastic news!
However, in being completely honest, one has to wonder if a new album is what Ciara needs at this point.
For, despite the groundbreaking success of ‘Ciara‘s ‘Body Party‘ in R&B’s lane, sales of its supporting album may give Epic‘s ‘big wigs’ serious pause if asked to allocate a fresh budget to a brand new album.
Perhaps, with her ever rising fashion ‘stock’ in mind, the next six months should be used to arm Brand Ciara with the ‘muscle’ she’ll need to launch an era that’d see her reach an audience far bigger than the one she’s currently targeting.
The relevance of the Ustream clip above?
Well, in an age where social media has seen the likes of Azealia Banks‘ become a household name without the benefit of a supporting album, reconnecting with her fans via mediums like the above would be the perfect way to strengthen/add numbers to her core base before the release of a new LP.
Seem trivial? Perhaps. However, if the outlets many a Pop staple turn to for promotion aren’t booking her, the star’s best bet is to take matters into her own hands and force feed herself to the masses digitally.

Sigh…..The problem with Ciara is she doesn’t listen to her fans. Her fans are the ones who will keep her in the music game. I don’t get her. i am not a fan but i liked Living it up and Overdose when i first heard them. Her fans begged her to release them. Nope. They are asking now and for a while for the video for Overdose. She only interacts with her fans when she needs them to push for her music to be played on the radio. Then she does a disappearing act.If she doesn’t start listening to her fans, she may lose a few of them.

Albums are based on an advance and if you use up the advance early, there’s nothing else you can do but hope there’s a profit against the advance so you can re-invest.

Congrats to Ciara, but what is it with these artists as of late? I mean why are so man artists putting out “good” album, release one single, and then abandoning it? Ciara put out maybe 2 singles from the Ciara project, Kelly Rowland did the same with the “Talk A Good Game” project, …Christina Aguilera with the Lotus project (I’m still a little pissed about how that project was handled). LOL I get that they’re artists and they want to express themselves, but whatever happen to letting a project mature? (TV appearances, videos, etc…..) Do they have too much going on to really focus on the albums they’re releasing? Just a question that’s been bugging me. Am I the only one that feels this way?

I remember back when artists used to spend more time promoting their albums and they would release about 4 or 5 singles off of their album and they would have videos for all of them instead of abandoning them. Artists lately seem lazy. they need to get back to making TV appearances and Videos and releasing more than 2 singles and maybe their wouldnt be as many flop albums

Obviously her label has given up on this project and have sent her back to the studio. It happens all the time.
Just look at Alexandra Burke, after let it go video and the bombing of Heartbreak on Hold, they wanted to send her back the studio but she became a diva, so they dropped her.
EPIC was probably looking at airplay and scrapped funding for the whole project and sent her back the studio, most likely due to the success of Livin it up and Overdose in Korea.
