The ladies of Little Mix have been tapped to front this year’s BBC Sports Relief campaign. And so as to raise money for the charitable cause have released a cover of Cameo’s classic ‘Word Up!’

Premiered today, the proceeds from the song’s sales will go towards efforts to relieve poverty in some of the world’s poorest countries – a drive other celebrities are helping with by performing sponsored sports challenges.

Is the their version of the 80’s smash a hit or miss? Find out below!

What a welcome surprise!

We’re often advocates for not touching such classic tracks, however Little Mix delivered and then some. From the lush harmonies, to diva-soaked delivery, to the respect paid to the original’s iconic guitar riffs, this was more than a Glee-flavoured rehash. The ladies served up a tantalising new slant on a much-loved gem, proving in the process that they bring to the table “edge” that demands attention.

Great track.

    LOL you’re clueless sweetie.

That “black girl” isn’t going anywhere. Her name is Leigh-Anne, learn that before you post rubbish.

She isn’t even the strongest singer, as much as I like her.

You should worry about that thing in your avatar though. Future got her knocked up?

  3. Molly January 21, 2014

And you should be worried about getting XO into the top 40.

Never heard of them, but they could all get the D. And I love Cameo, cool to hear a girl group doing their music.

  9. DanitySlay January 22, 2014

This is a cute track! But damn, you ladies picked the wrong time to try and make it. Danity Kane is back and they’re about to s*** all over 5th Lobotomy and Little Merkin. Anyway, I can see myself bumping to this if I’m not able to fall asleep or something.

    NO BASIC BURRITOS, PLEASE.
