Lady GaGa‘s Monsters are renowned for putting their paws up, however thousands had them down and fixed on their keyboards this morning, as the rush to snap up tickets to the singer’s UK tour commenced.
So fervent were her fans that tickets to all five UK dates sold out today in a mere matter of minutes.

Set to kick off in October following the US leg of the trek, ‘artrave: The ARTPOP Tour’ had been billed as one of the hottest live shows of the year – a status it’s already living up to.
After going on sale at 9am this morning on Ticketmaster, the company confirmed that all tickets were gone in just five minutes:

In all of these charts17 week old ARTPOP is being outsold by 105 week old Born to Die. ARTPOP Is the definition of a flop.
On topic. It’s not hard to sell out FIVE venues especially when your team holds back tickets to artificially inflate sales. I fell sorry for the people who bought tickets– I’m not sure the old hip will hold out.
Well of course her tour will do well, she has old hits to draw people in. But let’s not act like fans rushed out and bought these, companies like ticket master rush out and buy these tickets and sell them for twice the price. So the whole “it sold out in minutes” is nothing to brag about, but good for her. I think the next album she’ll have her s*** together, her team pretty much left her ass dry.

I dont know why record companies inflate sales, they inflated MJ’s sales to 750 million a few years ago and then even claimed he sold 1 billion. I love MJ, but those are clearly not true numbers. More likely is that MJ sold 500+ million records worldwide, not 750 mill or 1 billion. And I doubt that Elvis and beatles sold over 1,5 billion that people claim, if they did why hasn’t Elvis got a huge selling album? MJ and Beatles both have huge selling albums,,but not Elvis. They are the 3 best sellings acts but their sales are inflated honestly
Anyways, back on topic. Good for Lady Gaga if she sold out her tour dates but keep in mind that she only has 5 dates in the UK and they are smaller venues, no stadiums as she did on her last tour. It’s easy to sell out a theatre and arena tour.

Lady Gaga has lip synced, on her last tour she threw up and the “voice” kept singing while she was throwing up. Thats just one example. Never half ass on the dancing? We all know how many of these artists (Beyonce, Justin Bieber, etc) sell out within minutes.
They (especially Beyonce) get their team to buy the tickets they have on sale and re-sell them at a huge mark-up.
So for a venue of 15,000 audience, 3,000 would actually be up for sale; the rest will be bought up by Beyonce’s team and hawkers so the can sell them at a premium.

You must know that for acts with big demand – Gaga, for example, there are people and sites who buy the tickets on the first day and then resell them for double the price. Sometimes, this doesn’t work: look at Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz Tour or the Latin American leg of the BTWB. But if there’s enough demand to:
a. Sell out the venue on TicketMaster
b. Have the tickets from resellers cost more than the tickets on TicketMaster
it means that the tour is doing well.
U2 never gets these headlines, because there much less interest in rock acts on sites like these and because they do stadiums, which take a whole lot longer to sell out – including the so-called ‘touts’.
Some artists simply fail to sell out, see Katy’s UK leg:
smaller arenas, yet she fails to sell them all out.
